The Possibility of New Oasis Music

Noel Gallagher, the 58-year-old lead guitarist and songwriter of the iconic British band Oasis, may be working on new music following the band’s successful reunion. This comes after the group's long-awaited return to the stage in August 2023, which marked their first performances together since their 2009 split. The announcement sent fans into a frenzy, as it had been over a decade since the Gallagher brothers last played together.

Oasis has since performed at several high-profile shows in Cardiff, Manchester, and London, where they delivered their most beloved tracks from across their discography. While these performances have been celebrated by fans, many have wondered whether a new album could be in the works now that the band is back on stage.

According to a recent report, a source close to Noel Gallagher has claimed that he is currently writing new music. However, it remains unclear whether this material will be part of a new Oasis album or if it will be released under his solo project, High Flying Birds.

The insider shared that Noel has been inspired by the energy of the crowds during the shows, which has sparked his creativity. “Noel has been inspired by playing to adoring crowds, who have supercharged his creativity,” the source said. However, it is still uncertain whether the new songs will be developed into an album featuring Liam Gallagher on vocals.

The source also mentioned that Noel, who has been active as a solo artist and with High Flying Birds, is taking his time to see how things unfold while performing alongside his brother. “Noel has been in an absolutely fine mood… greeting staff with smiles, super relaxed and sharing his joy about the shows,” the insider added. They noted that Noel has been playing some new tunes in his dressing room but emphasized that these tracks are not yet aligned for any specific project.

At this point, there is no official confirmation of an Oasis studio return. The band still has a long way to go before any new album can be considered, and past conflicts between the brothers remain a concern. “There is no Oasis studio return as yet agreed by the band, and they still have a long way to go. Things are great now, but who knows what will happen given the brothers’ past troubles on the road,” the source concluded.

Despite these uncertainties, Oasis manager Alec McKinlay recently dismissed hopes of a new album. In an interview with Music Week, he stated, “This is very much the last time around, as Noel’s made clear in the press. It’s a chance for fans who haven’t seen the band to see them, or at least for some of them to… there’s no plan for any new music.”

However, not everyone is convinced that this will be the end. Happy Mondays star Bez recently suggested that the Gallagher brothers could release one more album before retiring. “They could make another album,” he told The Mirror. “I can’t see why they wouldn’t do it because I’m sure it’d be a worldwide hit to bring another album out after the reception they got. You know, what a retirement plan, if that’s the last thing you do. I’m sure they’d go for the retirement plan. If they don’t, they’re mad!”

Oasis has released seven studio albums, with their last, Dig Out Your Soul, coming out in 2008. This year marks the 30th anniversary of their second album, (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, which includes hits such as Some Might Say, Roll With It, Morning Glory, Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back In Anger, and Champagne Supernova.

If the Gallagher brothers do decide to create new music, it would mark a significant moment in the band’s legacy. For now, fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for Oasis.
