Deep Purple and Van Halen Celebrate Legacy with New Releases
Deep Purple continues to explore its iconic live performances with the release of a new super deluxe edition of Made in Japan, while Van Halen revisits their final multi-platinum era with an expanded version of Balance. These releases highlight the enduring influence of these legendary rock bands, as well as other acts that are also rolling out new or reissued material today.
A New Take on a Classic: Made in Japan
The 1972 concert recording Made in Japan is being given a fresh look with the Super Deluxe Edition. This 5CD/Blu-ray box set includes the original album, three shows from Osaka and Tokyo that contributed to the LP, and edited songs that were released as singles. The reissue features new stereo and Dolby ATMOS mixes by Steven Wilson, offering fans a more immersive listening experience. This release is a must-have for collectors and longtime fans who appreciate the band’s signature sound.
Van Halen’s Final Multi-Platinum Era
Van Halen’s 1995 album Balance is getting an expanded reissue that includes previously unreleased tracks. The new edition adds the B-side “Crossing Over,” two songs from the Twister soundtrack, and nine live tracks from the accompanying tour. With hits like “Can’t Stop Lovin’ You” helping it reach platinum status, Balance marked the band’s 10th and final album to sell over a million copies. This reissue is a celebration of Van Halen’s legacy and a fitting tribute to their final chapter.
