U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson finds himself in a challenging position, even within his own Louisiana district, where a Republican state representative has publicly criticized him for allegedly blocking the release of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. State Rep. Danny McCormick, representing Oil City in Johnson’s 4th District, issued a press release condemning the speaker for rebuking Congressman Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), who has been advocating for a vote to compel the U.S. Justice Department to release all documents related to the Epstein case to the public. Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, took his own life in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges involving underage girls.
