A Man Trusts His Instincts and Wins Big in the Lottery

A man from North Carolina made a decision based on his gut feeling, and it turned out to be one of the luckiest choices he ever made. William Evans played the digital lottery game called Multiplier Mania, which involves finding specific symbols for a chance to win the jackpot. However, before even playing, he had an instinct that this game would bring him success.

“I just felt like I should play that one,” Evans shared with the North Carolina Education Lottery in a press release. “I’m really excited.”

Multiplier Mania is a game where players can win either a silver or gold jackpot, with the gold prize being a progressive amount that can be won every time someone plays. The game allows players to spend between 50 cents and $30 per play. According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, the odds of winning the top-level gold jackpot are one in 40 million. Despite these long odds, Evans decided to go with his instincts and spent just $1 on a ticket. To his surprise, he won the gold jackpot, which was worth $273,520.

“I was like, ‘Am I reading this right?’” he recalled. “It was kind of nerve-racking.”

Evans said he was sitting at home, relaxed in his recliner, when he found out about his win. He officially claimed his winnings at the lottery headquarters and, after taxes, received $196,251. He plans to use the money to buy property and have his own place. Since Evans’ win, the jackpot in Multiplier Mania has reset to $83,567 as of July 29.

Other Recent Lottery Winners

Evans isn’t the only person who has recently hit the jackpot in the U.S. Earlier in July, a woman in South Carolina stopped at a Redi Mart gas station after her husband forgot to buy her lottery tickets. She purchased three Money Madness Extra Play scratch-off tickets. While the first two didn’t win anything, the third one turned out to be “magical,” as it won her the top prize of $500,000.

The woman shared her plans for the money, saying she will take some trips and enjoy her retirement sooner than expected.

Another recent winner is Russell Ruff, a school bus driver from Connecticut. He discovered that his lottery ticket was worth $150,000. However, he initially lost the ticket after buying it on June 13 at a gas station. It wasn’t until his 16-year-old cat got stuck behind his bed that he had to move the furniture and found the ticket again.

Upon rediscovering the ticket, he realized he had four of the five winning numbers, plus the Powerball number. He also had Power Play added to his ticket, which multiplies non-jackpot winnings by a certain amount. As a result, his prize increased from $50,000 to $150,000.

These stories show how sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of luck and trust in your instincts to change your life forever. Whether it’s through a digital lottery game, a scratch-off ticket, or a lost ticket that turns up again, the possibility of winning big is always there.
