Malcolm-Jamal Warner, a beloved actor known for his role in The Cosby Show and his work on 9-1-1, tragically passed away during a family vacation in Costa Rica. The incident has left fans and loved ones heartbroken, especially as it occurred while he was with his wife and daughter.

New details have surfaced about the events that led to his death near Cocles Beach in Limon. According to local law enforcement, Malcolm-Jamal and his eight-year-old daughter were caught in a rip current. A surfer intervened by using his board to pull the child to safety, while a volunteer lifeguard helped bring Malcolm-Jamal and another surfer to shore. Despite receiving CPR for 45 minutes, he was pronounced dead. Another surfer who tried to help also ended up in critical condition but is now recovering.

The family had arrived in Costa Rica on July 13, just a week before the tragic event. A spokesperson from the Judicial Investigation Agency shared that the surfer who came to help was not personally connected to Malcolm-Jamal but was likely trying to assist after witnessing the distress. The man was treated by the Costa Rican Red Cross following the water-related incident around 2:10 p.m.

The Caribbean Guard emphasized that they do everything within their power to save lives. They stated that without their presence, the number of drownings would be significantly higher. "We give everything we have to minimize the risks, but without help from the government, clear public policies, and strong support from local business owners, this will continue to happen," they wrote.
