Madonna Celebrates 67th Birthday in Siena, Italy

Madonna, the iconic music legend, recently celebrated her 67th birthday in a more low-key manner compared to last year’s events. She was spotted leaving the Grand Hotel Continental in Siena, Italy, on August 16, marking the beginning of her special day. The pop icon was seen with her boyfriend, Akeem Morris, who accompanied her as they left the hotel.

Madonna and Morris were both dressed in matching outfits—she wore a light white floor-length dress paired with a cream satin coat, while he opted for a white outfit and a cream-colored overcoat. Her blonde hair was styled down, and she covered her face with a black paper fan as she interacted with fans and photographers. As she got into the vehicle, Madonna waved and blew a kiss to those gathered.

Earlier that day, Madonna was seen celebrating her birthday with four of her children. The pop star watched the Palio di Siena horse race from a balcony, enjoying the event alongside her daughter Lourdes Leon, 28, son Rocco Ritchie, 25, and her 12-year-old twin daughters, Stella and Estere, whom she adopted from Malawi in 2017. Notably absent from the gathering were her 19-year-old son David Banda and 19-year-old daughter Mercy James.

Just days before her birthday, Madonna shared a heartfelt message on Instagram for her son Rocco’s birthday. The post had a political tone, as she wrote, “Politics Cannot affect Change. Only consciousness Can. Therefore I am Reaching out to a Man of God. Today is my Son Rocco’s birthday. I feel the best gift I can give to him as a Mother – is to ask everyone to do what they can to help save the innocent children caught in the crossfire in Gaza.”

She emphasized her concern for the children affected by the conflict, stating, “I am not pointing fingers, placing blame or taking sides. Everyone is suffering. Including the mothers of the hostages. I pray that they are released as well. I am merely trying to do what I can to keep these children from dying of starvation.”

This year’s celebration was significantly quieter than last year, when Madonna caused controversy over rumored plans for a lavish party at Pompeii. Locals were upset by the idea of her hosting a gathering of 500 guests at the historical site, which was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The excavation site has an events area, including a stage, but activists criticized the proposed event.

The alleged rental of the Teatro Grande amphitheater reportedly cost around $30,000. While the mayor of Pompeii, Carmine Lo Sapio, was said to be open to the plan, Michele Campisi, general secretary of the Italia Nostra heritage association, expressed strong disapproval, calling the cost “absurd” and questioning why Madonna would choose such a location.

Pompeii officials later denied the rumors, stating in a press release, “Regarding the rumors circulating in the press these days about a 'mega-party' of an international celebrity with 500 guests in the excavations of Pompeii, as well as about an alleged rent of €30,000 for the Large Theatre, the Archaeological Park specifies that these are unfounded reports.”

Before her birthday, Madonna was reportedly traveling along the Italian coast on a yacht, making stops in Naples and Capri. She ended up celebrating her 66th birthday with loved ones, including two of her daughters, Estere and Stella, and her boyfriend, Morris, in Italy.

During her stay, Madonna stayed at the five-star Villa TreVille resort in Positano, a property that also hosted Jennifer Lopez earlier that summer. The resort overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea, with rooms available for up to $2,000 per night.

Over her birthday weekend, Madonna participated in traditional Italian Ferragosto celebrations from the balcony of the La Tagliata restaurant in Montepertuso. The festivities included fireworks over the Amalfi Coast.

Madonna and her group of about 30 people dined at the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, where the exclusive dinner was catered by the three-Michelin-starred restaurant Quattro Passi. Chef Vincenzo Castaldo of Villa TreVille oversaw the event. Later, the group arrived at the park around 10:30 p.m., where they watched a performance by the local youth project Sogno di Volare (Dream of Flying), which is funded by Madonna. They also received a guided tour from the park's director, Gabriel Zuchtriegel.
