Madonna Celebrates 67th Birthday in Italy with Family

Madonna, the iconic pop star, celebrated her 67th birthday on August 16 with a trip to Italy, where she was joined by her large family. Among those accompanying her were four of her six children, making the occasion a special one for the entire family. The singer was spotted on Saturday at the historic Palio di Siena horse race in Tuscany, watching the festivities from a balcony alongside her loved ones.

The photo captured Madonna with her son Rocco Ritchie, who turned 25 on August 11, her oldest daughter Lourdes Leon, 28, and her youngest children, the twins Stella and Estere, who are 12 years old. Her boyfriend, Akeem Morris, was also present during the event. The Palio di Siena is a traditional horse race held twice a year, on July 2 and August 16, and has its roots in the 17th century. It features 10 horses and riders representing 10 of the 17 city wards known as "contrade." The race on August 16 is called the "Palio dell'Assunta," honoring the Assumption of Mary. Although the race is fast-paced and full of twists, it typically lasts no longer than 90 seconds.

While Madonna kept her own birthday relatively low-key, she used her son’s milestone celebration as an opportunity to speak out about a pressing issue. She took to social media with a powerful message urging her followers and fans to support those affected by the ongoing atrocities in Gaza, particularly children. In her post, she wrote: “Politics Cannot affect Change. Only consciousness Can. Therefore I am Reaching out to a Man of God.”

She continued, “Today is my Son Rocco's birthday. I feel the best gift I can give to him as a Mother – is to ask everyone to do what they can to help save the innocent children caught in the crossfire in Gaza.” Madonna emphasized that she was not placing blame or taking sides, but rather trying to raise awareness about the suffering of children in the region. “I am not pointing fingers, placing blame or taking sides. Everyone is suffering. Including the mothers of the hostages. I pray that they are released as well,” she added. “I am merely trying to do what I can to keep these children from dying of starvation.”

Madonna welcomed Rocco with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie, and the artist maintains a close relationship with both parents. When Rocco began his career in the art world, he used the pseudonym Maison Rhed, which he still occasionally uses, to avoid being confined by his heritage. Recently, Rocco addressed his affluent background during a conversation with the magazine Fantastic Man, stating, “I always think it's funny that back in the day, some of the most beautiful cathedrals that were ever built would be built by generation after generation of the same family.” He went on to say, “And now, if you are born from a family – and I'm not saying this is wrong – you start looking at nepo babies and they are not the most interesting bunch, are they?”

In another interview with Whitewall, Rocco noted that it was his "Vogue" hitmaker mom who often pushed him and his siblings to explore their creative sides. “I've been painting since I was a kid, as you may well know I grew up in a household with creativity on steroids,” he said. “My mum didn't really give us the choice, which I'm so grateful for now, but she made us try all the creative paths.” He also reflected on his experience as a newcomer to the art world and the challenges posed by the paparazzi surrounding him since childhood, especially as he prepared for his latest exhibition, "The Tourist."
