Text messages between the couple showed Angela telling Craig that she had only consumed her protein shake before hospitalization and felt drugged. Craig denied any wrongdoing, referencing a past incident where he allegedly drugged his wife to prevent her from stopping his suicide attempt.

In response, prosecutor Ryan Brackley argued that the only evidence of Angela’s suicidal ideation came from Craig himself, who was not trustworthy. He emphasized that Angela was not broken and that her spirit remained strong.
