Jessica Williams Confronts Trump on 'Every Exceptional Black Person' in 'Daily Show' Return

A Bold Take on Trump’s Attacks and the Role of Black Celebrities
Jessica Williams made a powerful return to The Daily Show to speak out against President Donald Trump’s latest rhetoric, which she called “bulls---.” During a segment focused on the ongoing pressure for the release of files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Williams took the opportunity to call out Trump for targeting prominent Black figures like Kamala Harris, Oprah Winfrey, and Beyoncé.
Williams, known for her sharp wit and insightful commentary, was clearly frustrated with the president's actions. She interrupted host Jon Stewart mid-sentence, exclaiming, “Oh no, oh no no no, not Beyoncé, Jon, that is some bulls--- right there, nuh uh.” Her appearance in frame confirmed her strong stance, as she emphasized that she was “sick of this” and demanded that Trump come clean about his connection to Epstein.
Stewart acknowledged that Trump had been making similar claims for weeks, and he mused about how long the president could avoid addressing the issue. Williams responded with a pointed joke: “I mean obviously it depends on how many Black people he has left.” She argued that Trump was trying to divert attention from the scandal by accusing various Black individuals of wrongdoing.
She listed several examples of what she saw as Trump’s tactics. First, he released files about Martin Luther King Jr., then accused former President Barack Obama of treason, and now he wants to prosecute Oprah and Beyoncé. “The nerve, Jon, the nerve,” she said, clearly unimpressed with the president’s approach.
Williams, who left The Daily Show in 2016 but has returned as a guest over the years, continued to highlight the broader pattern of attacks. “Trump is coming after all of our greatest Black people,” she said. She even joked about who might be next: “Who’s next? Michael Jordan? Michael B. Jordan? Michael C. Jordan?”
Her comments were laced with humor, but they also underscored a serious concern about the way Trump is using racial and cultural figures to shift focus away from real issues. She even joked that she hoped the situation would wrap up before Trump turned his attention to her. Stewart reassured her that Trump wouldn’t go after her, but Williams wasn’t convinced.
“Excuse me? He won’t come after me?” she asked Stewart, clearly taken aback. “What, I’m not an exceptional enough Black person for Trump? Hmm? I’m not famous enough to be publicly accused of treason or doing 9/11? You don’t know where I was that day. You don’t know me.”
She added that she was notable enough to “at least be accused of misdemeanor election fraud, you butthead.” Her remarks were a mix of humor and frustration, reflecting the tension surrounding Trump’s rhetoric and its impact on public figures.
Williams, who recently received her second Emmy nomination for her role in Shrinking, used the platform to voice her concerns and challenge the narrative being pushed by the former president. Her appearance on The Daily Show served as a reminder of the power of comedy to address serious social and political issues.
