He described the moment he received a message on Facebook that appeared to be from Jelly Roll, one of his favorite musicians. The message claimed he had won $50,000 and a brand new car. At first, he was excited and believed the offer was genuine.

The account then sent Flint a video featuring a man who looked and sounded exactly like Jelly Roll. In the video, the person asked Flint to cover the shipping costs to claim his prize. Even after receiving what they claimed was Jelly Roll’s official driver’s license, Flint remained skeptical. However, the video was convincing enough that he started to believe it might be real.

Experts have pointed out several red flags in the driver’s license image. For instance, the name "Jolly roll" was misspelled, whereas the singer goes by "Jelly Roll." Additionally, the document showed a Permanent Resident Card, which would not typically appear on a U.S. native's identification. The location "Nashville" was also incorrect, as it should have reflected the artist’s actual birthplace.

Despite these inconsistencies, Flint was surprised when the account sent a second video where the person addressed him by his full name. This detail convinced him that it was indeed Jelly Roll, and he began to feel more confident in the legitimacy of the offer.

The scam then escalated, with the account asking Flint to send money through Apple gift cards. Despite being on a fixed income, Flint sent $70, explaining that it was all the money he had for the month. He even mentioned his disability status, hoping to make the scammers understand his financial situation.

A family member soon warned Flint that the situation seemed suspicious, prompting him to stop the payments and file a police report. However, the messages continued, with the scammers still attempting to get more money from him.

Flint now wants to ensure that no one else falls victim to such scams.
