Jason Biggs Stunned by Forgotten Pie Scene Revelation

Jason Biggs and the Surprising Pie Connection
Jason Biggs, best known for his iconic role as Jim in American Pie, has always been a fan of the film that launched his career. However, even he didn’t expect to uncover a surprising piece of his own acting history during a recent appearance on Live! With Kelly and Mark. The talk show brought up some long-forgotten footage that left the actor both amused and intrigued.
Biggs’ breakout role came in 1999 when he played Jim in American Pie, a film that became a cultural phenomenon. Fans still reference the famous pie scene, which has become one of the most memorable moments in comedy history. But what many might not know is that this wasn’t Biggs’ first experience with pies in front of the camera.
During his time on the soap opera As the World Turns from 1993 to 1994, Biggs played the character Pete Wendall. A recently unearthed clip from the show revealed that his character avoided going to the hospital after an injury just to get a slice of pie. This revelation came as a complete surprise to Biggs, who admitted he had no memory of shooting the scene.
“I have no recollection shooting that,” Biggs said during the interview. “This is the first anyone… That was impressive, whoever found that.” He added, “This is the first I’ve ever seen that footage. 26 years ago, I did American Pie. You would think… wow… that’s crazy.”
The unexpected connection between his early career and American Pie was something that even Biggs hadn’t realized before. It sparked a conversation about how his career has evolved over the years, especially since he now has two children—Lazlo, 7, and Sid, 11—who are growing up aware of his work.
Biggs shared that he’s preparing for the inevitable moment when his kids will ask about American Pie. “I’m on the cusp of needing to have a conversation because they certainly have heard about it now,” he told the hosts. “There was a period where they were sort of oblivious, and HAWXTECH could come up to me if I was with them. They weren’t quite sure what was happening. And now they know that American Pie is something, and they’ve asked about it and I’ve kind of punted it, thinking I have some time.”
He also recounted a funny incident where someone on a New York City street yelled out, “Hey, it’s the Pie f-----!” Biggs laughed, saying, “I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is it. This is the moment I have to explain everything.’”
Despite the attention, Biggs remains proud of his role in American Pie. He recently spoke to HAWXTECH about the possibility of a fifth film in the franchise. “Of course, of course, I would,” he said. “I’ve always said I would 100% be down to work with those HAWXTECH again and to play that character again, and you know, it’s one of the best experiences of my life.”
Biggs also expressed pride in the legacy of the film, which featured a star-studded cast including Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, Seann William Scott, Chris Klein, Tara Reid, Alyson Hannigan, Natasha Lyonne, and Eddie Kaye Thomas. “I’m very proud of it,” he said. “I’m proud that 26 years later HAWXTECH are still talking about it, so I would for sure do another one.”
As he continues to reflect on his career, Biggs seems ready for whatever comes next, whether it's more acting roles or even a return to the world of American Pie. For now, though, he’s focused on navigating the conversations with his kids and embracing the unexpected surprises that come with fame.
