Investigators Can't Rule Out Foul Play in Missing SoCal Baby Case

Investigation into the Disappearance of 7-Month-Old Emmanuel Haro
Authorities in San Bernardino County have announced that they are unable to rule out foul play in the disappearance of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro. The case has sparked widespread concern and a coordinated search effort involving law enforcement agencies, family members, and community volunteers.
The incident began on Thursday evening when Rebecca Haro, the baby’s mother, reported being attacked by a stranger while changing her son’s diaper near her car at a Big 5 Sporting Goods store in Yucaipa, about an hour outside of Los Angeles. According to Rebecca, she was approached by someone who said “Hola” before she lost consciousness. When she awoke, she found herself on the floor with no sign of her son.
Deputies were called shortly after 7:47 p.m. and quickly launched an extensive search operation. K-9 units and helicopters were deployed, and investigators from both San Bernardino and Riverside counties joined the effort. Despite these efforts, Emmanuel was not found.
During interviews with the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division, Rebecca Haro faced questions about inconsistencies in her initial statement. She eventually declined to continue speaking with detectives, according to officials. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not ruled out the possibility of foul play.
Mary Beushausen, the child’s grandmother, expressed confidence that the couple would never harm their son. She also mentioned that authorities had asked Rebecca to take a lie detector test, but her husband, Jake Haro, refused to do so until they hired a lawyer. Court records indicate that Jake has a criminal history, though the nature of the alleged offenses remains unclear.
An AMBER Alert has not been issued because the case does not meet the criteria for such an alert without a suspect or vehicle description. However, friends and family have taken it upon themselves to search for Emmanuel. On Saturday, the couple’s home in Cabazon was searched by authorities, and cadaver dogs were reportedly brought in as part of the effort.
Rebecca and Jake Haro have pleaded for their son’s safe return, urging anyone with information to come forward. Jake made a heartfelt appeal, saying, “Whoever took my son, please return him. We just want him back. We won’t do anything to you. Just give us our son. Keep him safe, don’t hurt him, make sure you feed him and change him.”
Rebecca added, “If you know anything, please come forward or take him to the cops. Please come and bring my son back. I’m begging you.”
Emmanuel is approximately 24 inches tall and weighs around 21 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes, and is cross-eyed. He was last seen wearing a black Nike onesie. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact local authorities immediately.
