According to a detailed account shared by Redditor r/Fish_Able, the event unfolded when a group of friends, including a transgender woman, were at the Barton Springs spillway. The group was initially subjected to persistent advances from three men. As the situation escalated, the trans woman joined her friends, and the men began targeting her based on her gender identity. They engaged in verbal abuse and physical harassment, even poking at the other two women near their chests, creating a hostile environment.

A bystander, described as a "Good Samaritan," attempted to intervene and was met with brutal aggression. The individual suffered severe injuries, including a broken jaw and a head injury from being hit with a rock. Despite the severity of the attack, the alleged perpetrators managed to flee the scene. The incident was later reported to the Austin Police Department (APD).

APD confirmed the details of the event, stating that it took place around 5:22 p.m. at 2131 William Barton Drive. Officers arrived on the scene and found one victim receiving medical attention from emergency services before being transported to a local hospital. A witness reported that an unknown male had initiated a verbal altercation, which quickly escalated into a physical assault involving multiple individuals. The witness also mentioned that the bystander who tried to help was assaulted, resulting in him falling to the ground. The suspect then pushed the witness before fleeing the area.
