The Musical Legacy of Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s Sons

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, two iconic figures in the music industry, have not only left their mark on the world through their careers but are also seeing their sons follow in their footsteps. The couple, who were married from 2002 to 2016, have three sons: Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo. While all three have shown interest in music, it is the two older boys—Kingston and Zuma—who have begun making waves with their own talents.

Kingston, now 19, has already started to carve out his own path in the music world. Known for his public social media presence, he has expressed a desire to pursue music independently. Recently, he posted a message on Instagram, seeking a bassist and drummer in the Los Angeles area, which he added to his bio alongside a siren emoji to emphasize the urgency. This move suggests that Kingston is serious about his musical ambitions.

Like his parents, Kingston has a deep appreciation for rock music. He is particularly fond of bands such as Smashing Pumpkins, although this preference has not gone unnoticed by his father, Gavin. In a previous interview with Us Weekly, Gavin humorously remarked on his son's lack of interest in his own music. "It's so close to [my music] – I wish he were really deeply into me but he's not," he said. However, he also acknowledged that Kingston's love for the Pumpkins is a positive development. "He's into the Pumpkins, which is great. They're an incredible band. We love Billy [Corgan], we love the Deftones, and it's so fun – walking past his room, and he's playing a Deftones riff."

Zuma, the second oldest at 16, has a different musical taste. He leans more towards blues and country, much like his stepdad, Blake Shelton. Zuma has even performed with Blake on several occasions, showcasing his growing talent. Like his brother, he made his stage debut at Ole Red, Blake’s bar, where he shared the spotlight with his stepfather.

In a recent conversation with TODAY, Blake spoke about the possibility of forming a family band with Gwen and the boys. “That would be a lot of fun. I know that that would be Gwen's dream come true is to have, like, a family band or something like that,” he said. However, he also admitted that recording with Gwen alone was enough for him. “I don't feel like I want to make a record without a duet with Gwen on it anymore. She's my favorite person to sing with.”

Gavin, on the other hand, couldn’t help but joke about Zuma’s growing interest in country music. “I have gallows' humor because I'm English,” he said. He expressed some concern about Zuma’s evolving taste, especially when it comes to modern country music. “So, when you get Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash – of course – Merle Haggard, it's a whole different thing. It's when you get the [country] on the radio. Nowadays, it's much more homogenized, that country sound. So, I was worried, but [Zuma] loves Zach Bryan.”

“I've been listening to it,” Gavin continued, noting that he had specifically been connecting with Zach Bryan’s lyrics. “It's really good, so I've been really connecting to [Zach Bryan] lyrics.”

As the sons of two legendary musicians, Kingston and Zuma are not only continuing their parents’ legacy but also developing their own unique styles. Whether they follow in the footsteps of Gwen, Gavin, or Blake, one thing is clear: the next generation is shaping up to be just as talented as the ones before them.
