Greenova Tea in Frisco Claims to Serve the World's Strongest Brew

A New Tea Experience in Frisco
A new tea shop has opened in Frisco, offering a unique and bold approach to tea consumption. Called Greenova Tea, it has taken over a former Zero Degrees location at 3401 Preston Rd. #15, within the bustling Center at Preston Ridge. The shop's main claim is that it serves "the world's most caffeinated tea," which sets it apart from traditional tea shops.
The founder, Joseph Be, explains that the shop’s method of brewing tea is unlike anything else on the market. Instead of using conventional brewing techniques, they have developed a proprietary process called "teaspresso." This involves retrofitting an espresso machine to extract tea in a way that mimics the strength and intensity of espresso. To enhance the flavor and potency, they add extra tea in a powdered form, creating a concentrated and rich tea shot.
The Science Behind the Brew
Greenova Tea uses a scientific method known as "Dual phase pull." The first step involves high-pressure extraction to pull out as much tea as possible from the leaves. After this, they introduce a second round of tea called "dancha," which is finely ground oolong tea powder similar to matcha. This dancha is whisked into the tea using the same technique used for making matcha green tea, resulting in a complex and velvety texture.
The final product is a tea shot that rivals espresso in both taste and strength, but without the use of coffee beans. The caffeine content in their drinks ranges from 130 to 150 milligrams, significantly higher than the 95 milligrams found in a standard cup of coffee and double that of a typical cup of tea.
Menu Options and Unique Features
Greenova Tea offers a variety of drinks that cater to different tastes. Their menu includes:
- Teatte – a tea version of a café latte, combining tea with milk
- Maple Sea Salt Teatte
- Coconut Crunch Teatte – topped with whipped cream and toasted coconut shavings
- Olive Pistachio Teatte – featuring pistachio cold foam, inspired by the Dubai chocolate dessert trend
One of the appealing aspects of these drinks is the visual effect when the tea concentrate is added to the creamy base. Whether using oat milk, almond milk, or coconut milk, the dark tea contrasts beautifully with the white liquid, creating a marble-like appearance. The milk also softens the concentrated teaspresso flavor, offering a balanced drinking experience.
Customers can also enjoy the Dancha tea, which is made by whisking the oolong powder like matcha. In addition, there are several matcha-based drinks available, including options like Matcha Lavender Teatte and the popular Matcha Strawberry Latte. Prices range from $5 to $7.75.
Expanding Beyond Beverages
While the focus is on tea, Greenova Tea also offers some food items. Currently, they serve an avocado toast topped with a fried egg. However, Be plans to expand the menu in the coming months, adding more food options to complement the drinks.
A Visionary in the Beverage Industry
Joseph Be is no stranger to innovation in the beverage industry. He previously founded Meccha Matcha, which opened its first location in DFW in Plano in 2018. At the time, matcha was still a relatively niche product, but Be helped bring it into the mainstream. Although the original Plano location closed during the pandemic, a new Meccha Matcha location in Grand Prairie has become wildly popular.
Despite the current popularity of matcha, Be has chosen not to highlight it at Greenova Tea. His goal is to redefine how people perceive tea, especially targeting coffee drinkers. By offering a bold, energizing, and satisfying tea experience, he aims to convert even the most loyal latte lovers into tea enthusiasts.
