Ginger Minj Shares New Movie Role and Broadway Opportunities Post-'Drag Race' Victory

A New Chapter for Ginger Minj
Ginger Minj recently claimed victory on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 10, just a week ago. However, the glamour and excitement haven't slowed her down at all. The drag queen is already diving into new opportunities following her win, setting her sights on an impressive array of future projects.
"I woke up this morning and saw the crown and scepter sitting on the shelf," she shared over the phone. "I went, 'Oh s–t, it's real. It happened. I won.' It felt great in that moment, then I went, 'Okay, well, this is 10 years of your life. What's next?'"
As Drag Race alumni continue to make waves in mainstream entertainment, Ginger Minj's future looks even more promising. She recently booked a starring role in a Universal Pictures film, which is highly anticipated. While details remain under wraps, she revealed that the movie is directed by Adam Shankman, someone she has admired for a long time. "Everybody's going to get to see me do what I do best. I'm going to be fun, I'm going to be funny and I'm going to get to sing and dance."
Shankman, known for his work on shows like So You Think You Can Dance and directing films such as Hairspray, Rock of Ages, and Disenchanted, has a history with Ginger Minj. She previously appeared in Hocus Pocus 2, which he produced. This collaboration marks a significant step in her career, showcasing her versatility beyond the Drag Race stage.
In addition to the upcoming film, Ginger Minj is also considering several Broadway offers. Although she hasn't confirmed whether she'll take on an existing role or originate a new one, she's excited about the possibilities. Currently, other Drag Race alumni like Jinkx Monsoon and Marcia Marcia Marcia are performing on Broadway, and Ginger Minj is looking forward to joining them soon.
"I'm about to hit the road with Hocus Pocus Live with Jujubee, Sapphira Cristal and myself," she said, highlighting her commitment to live performances and collaborations.
Navigating the Challenges of Fame
Despite her recent success, Ginger Minj remains grounded and focused on her goals. She admitted that the journey has been nerve-wracking, especially given the expectations surrounding her return to the competition. "It felt like I had so much more to lose or to prove this time around," she reflected. "A lot of people felt like I was at an unfair advantage coming back, but I felt the complete opposite. I felt like I was at a disadvantage because I had already done really well in the past."
The Drag Race fandom can be both supportive and harsh, and Ginger Minj has learned to handle the negativity. "I'm human, so of course, when certain things creep through, it does sting a little bit," she said. "But I handle it the same way I handled Mistress Isabelle Brooks in the semifinals. We had a huge feud, but it was all one-sided. I was so focused on the positivity and trying to reach the next goal that I didn't even realize she was so wrapped up in the situation."
Celebrating the Win and Planning the Future
Ginger Minj celebrated her win in style, taking the crown to Universal Studios for a photo shoot with Elphaba and Gleida. She spent the day riding roller coasters with friends, making memories that will last a lifetime.
With the $200,000 prize, she plans to take care of her family, pay off debts, and invest in a place in Los Angeles. "I have some home repairs that need to be taken care of. I got some debt that needs to be paid down, and then I'm going to take that money and get a place in LA so that I can be more present."
Looking ahead, Ginger Minj has big dreams for her Broadway debut. "There's two, and I can't choose between them. Number one, I want to play Albin in a Broadway revival of La Cage aux Folles. I've played it in the past, but it really speaks to me. And just for fun, I want to play Madame Morrible in Wicked."
Embracing New Opportunities
Ginger Minj's talent for character work has made her a standout on Snatch Game. She often surprises audiences with her impersonations, from Reba McEntire to Martha Stewart and Ross Mathews. "I never know until literally moments before I start getting ready what character I'm going to do," she explained. "I love doing character work, so it's always so exciting for me to prepare for it."
Her approach to lip syncing is rooted in storytelling. "The key to success on Drag Race is 'make me laugh.' A lot of people forget that. When you lip sync a song, it's not about kicking and splitting and death drops. Those are great, and they can certainly add to the experience, but it's a lip sync. You have to know the words, you have to know the intention, and you have to sell the story."
Looking Forward to More Competitions
Now that she's in the Drag Race Hall of Fame, Ginger Minj has received messages of support from fellow winners. "Almost all of them. Trixie Mattel called me yesterday, and we had a long discussion, and she was just so happy for me." She also mentioned connections with UK-based queens and other past contestants who have reached out to celebrate her achievement.
When asked if she would return for an all-winners season, she responded enthusiastically. "I would never say no to Drag Race, as long as it fits into my life. I love being there. I love everything it's given to me, and I just love competing."
While she wouldn't rule out other reality shows, she admitted that she might not be suited for something like The Traitors. "I think I would be terrible at it, because I'm a terrible liar. I don't have a poker face, so I don't think I'd be good at it, but I would love to do something more along the lines of The Masked Singer, where I could go in, sing and have a good time."
As Ginger Minj continues to build her legacy, one thing is clear—her journey is far from over. With new projects, exciting opportunities, and a strong support system, she's ready to embrace whatever comes next.
