Gamescom 2025: Breaking Records in Gaming

The Excitement Builds for Gamescom 2025
As the countdown begins, Cologne is set to transform into the epicenter of the global gaming world. In just a few weeks, the city will host one of the most anticipated events in the video game industry—Gamescom. This year’s edition is expected to be even more impressive than ever before, with new records on the horizon.
Setting New Records
Koelnmesse, the organization behind Gamescom, is already anticipating record-breaking numbers. According to Gamescom Director Tim Endres, "The numbers speak for themselves. Gamescom 2025 will be bigger, more experiential, and once again become the center of the global gaming community." The event has seen an 11% increase in exhibitors compared to the same time last year. Last year alone, over 1,462 exhibitors from more than 60 countries participated, drawing around 335,000 visitors and over 32,000 trade visitors.
Major Companies Participating
Interest from major companies in participating in Gamescom is at an all-time high. Renowned publishers and developers are making their presence known. Confirmed exhibitors include 2K, Bandai Namco, Bethesda, Blizzard Entertainment, Capcom, Electronic Arts, Konami, Nintendo, Sega, Ubisoft, and Xbox. Hardware manufacturers like Asus, as well as streaming services such as Disney+ and Netflix, will also be in attendance. These companies have been increasingly involved in the gaming space in recent years.
Expanding the Exhibition Space
To accommodate the growing demand, the exhibition space of the Entertainment Area will expand to include Hall 8. This expansion is aimed at providing more room for participants and attendees. The Indie Area will also grow significantly, filling half a hall for the first time. The Event Arena, located in Hall 1, will host various activities, including esports events and planned concerts.
One of the most anticipated highlights of Gamescom is Opening Night Live (ONL), which will take place in the Event Arena. The opening night traditionally features several game premieres, with this year's event scheduled for August 19. The pre-show starts at 7:30 PM, followed by the main show beginning around 8:00 PM. Canadian journalist Geoff Keighley and Belgian host Eefje "Sjokz" Depoortere will co-host the evening. A major announcement this year is the first reveal of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 7" during ONL.
Tickets and Opening Hours
Gamescom 2025 will run from August 20 to 24. The first day is reserved for trade visitors and media, but there are "Wildcard day tickets" available that allow entry from 1:00 PM. These tickets are currently being sold on the Gamescom website for 64 euros.
For Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, day tickets cost 30.50 euros, with reduced day tickets priced at 22 euros. Evening tickets, valid from 4:00 PM, are available for 10 euros, while family tickets cost 68 euros. On Saturday, prices increase to 40 euros for regular day tickets, 31.50 euros for reduced day tickets, 12.50 euros for evening tickets, and 84.50 euros for family tickets.
Reduced rates are available for students, apprentices, voluntary social service workers, retirees, seniors, and severely disabled individuals. Family tickets are valid for up to five people, including a maximum of two adults and three or four children aged seven to twelve years.
Private visitors can enjoy the event from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Thursday and Friday, and from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. With so much to see and experience, Gamescom 2025 promises to be an unforgettable celebration of gaming.
