Gabriel Iglesias Spends $100K on Dog's Quinceañera, Now Welcomes New Pup After Loss

A New Companion for a Comedy Legend
Comedian Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias has always had a soft spot for his pets, and now he's found a new furry friend to add to his family. This year, Iglesias welcomed a teacup Chihuahua named Roka into his life. The tiny black dog has quickly become a source of joy and comfort for the comedian, especially after a difficult period of loss.
Roka arrived at a time when Iglesias was still grieving the passing of two beloved Chihuahuas, Vinnie and Risa. Their deaths were particularly hard on him, as both dogs had been constant companions for many years. Risa, in particular, was well-known among fans, not only for being a loyal pet but also for receiving a lavish $100,000 quinceañera celebration when she turned 15. She passed away in September 2024 at the age of 16.
The loss of Risa and Vinnie came at a challenging time for Iglesias. Both dogs developed health issues around the same time, leading to months of medical treatments and visits to the emergency room. Their combined struggles made their passing even more painful for the comedian, who described them as his "road dogs" during the last eight years of their lives. They traveled with him across 40+ states, becoming an essential part of his journey.
Initially, Iglesias had plans to bring a new dog into the family before losing Risa and Vinnie. However, the timing didn't work out, and he ended up welcoming Roka after their passing. Despite this, he feels that the timing was right for her arrival.
"I have had a Chihuahua in my life since I was 12 years old," Iglesias shared. "At times, I have had more than one Chihuahua at a time. Bringing a new dog into the mix is something I have done in the past. I knew, based on my dogs' ages and health issues, that I needed to do this sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, Roka arrived after losing both Risa and Vinnie."
Now, Roka has become a bright spot in Iglesias' life. Her youthful energy and playful nature have helped lift his spirits as he continues to process his grief. The contrast between a puppy’s energy and that of a senior dog is striking, and Iglesias finds himself constantly chasing Roka around the house.
"The amount of energy a puppy has compared to a senior dog is night and day," he said. "It reminds me that I'm not getting any younger. All she wants to do is play, explore, and chew on things. She has more toys than I ever had as a child. All of her puppy energy does not allow for being sad, as I am too out of breath from chasing her."
Roka has also taken on the role of Iglesias' travel companion. This summer, she has already visited 15 states and two countries, with the goal of reaching all 50 states. The comedian has been sharing glimpses of their adventures with fans, highlighting how much Roka has brought joy to his life.
"She is sweet and loving with a select few. Full of energy and bark! Curious and playful! And has me wrapped around her paw!" Iglesias added.
For fans of Iglesias, Roka represents not just a new addition to his family, but a symbol of resilience and hope. As he continues to tour with his new dog, it's clear that Roka has found her place in his heart—and in his travels.
