FBI and Hiland Dairy Respond to Devil's Den Double Homicide Suspect Search

Ongoing Investigation into the Tragic Hiking Deaths
Authorities have released new details in the ongoing investigation into the deaths of Clinton and Cristen Brink, a couple who were fatally attacked while hiking with their daughters at Devil’s Den State Park on Saturday, July 26. The incident has shocked the community and sparked a widespread search for the suspect.
On Tuesday, Arkansas State Police released a photo showing the suspect from behind, taken the day of the attack. This followed a composite sketch released Monday night, asking the public to help identify the man seen in the park. Investigators believe the suspect may have sustained an injury during the attack, which could be a crucial piece of evidence in the case.
Who Were the Victims?
The victims were identified as Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, who had recently relocated to Prairie Grove from out of state. The couple was hiking a trail in Devil’s Den with their 7- and 9-year-old daughters, who survived the attack and are now with family.
In a family statement released on Monday, July 28, relatives asked for privacy and called for justice:
“Clinton and Cristen died heroes, protecting their little girls, and they deserve justice. They will forever live on in all of our hearts,” the statement read.
FBI Joins the Investigation
In a statement issued Tuesday, the FBI’s Little Rock Field Office confirmed it is assisting Arkansas State Police by providing “additional manpower and specialized resources” to support the ongoing investigation. The case continues to draw collaboration from local, state, and federal agencies, highlighting the severity of the crime and the need for a thorough response.
Connection to Hiland Dairy
Hiland Dairy President Rick Beaman shared that Clinton Brink had just accepted a position with their Fayetteville team and was preparing to start this week. He expressed his condolences and admiration for the family:
“Though our time with him was brief, it was clear he was a devoted husband and father, eager to begin this new chapter... Our thoughts are with the Brink family and especially with Clinton and Cristen’s daughters, whose loss is unimaginable.”
Description of the Suspect and Vehicle
Authorities say the suspect is believed to be a white male with a medium build. He was last seen wearing:
- A long-sleeved shirt with sleeves rolled up
- Dark pants
- A dark ballcap and sunglasses
- Fingerless gloves and carrying a black backpack
The man was seen driving a black, four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda, with a license plate that may have been covered in electrical or duct tape. The vehicle may have traveled on State Highway 170 or 220 near the park.
How to Help
Anyone who visited Devil’s Den State Park on Saturday, July 26, is asked to check:
- Cellphone photos, videos, or GoPro footage
- Security or game camera recordings from areas surrounding the park
If you have information, contact ASP Troop L at (479) 751-6663, Extension 2, or call 911. Authorities caution the public not to post media online, as it could interfere with the investigation. Tips may also be submitted via voicemail and will be returned as soon as possible.
Current Status of the Investigation
The site of the attack remains closed to the public. Devil’s Den State Park is located about 30 miles south of Fayetteville and 60 miles northeast of Fort Smith, in a remote and rugged part of the Ozarks with limited cellphone service. The community continues to mourn the loss of the Brink family and hopes for swift justice.
