A Love Story That Has Lasted Over a Decade

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes first crossed paths in 2011 while co-starring in The Place Beyond the Pines. Since then, the couple has grown their family with two daughters, Esmeralda and Amada. Now, as they continue to keep their personal lives private, they remain one of Hollywood’s most enduring love stories.

Eva, who is the only one of the two active on social media, recently shared a heartfelt message about her partner, whom she affectionately calls “my man.” In the post, she expressed her desire for Ryan to return to directing, a role he last took on in 2014 with his feature debut, Lost River.

The Directorial Debut of Ryan Gosling

Lost River, a fantasy thriller, featured a stellar cast including Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan, Iain De Caestecker, Matt Smith, and Eva herself. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014 and was released in the United States the following year. While it received mixed reviews initially, it has since gained a cult following among fans of surreal and imaginative cinema.

Eva recently took to Instagram to share her admiration for the film, wearing a white vest featuring the movie’s poster. She captioned the post: “I keep asking my man to please direct another film!” She also reflected on her experience working with Ryan on the project, calling it “the best, most creative time being directed by him for his dark fairytale, LOST RIVER.”

A Growing Demand for a New Project

Her post quickly sparked a wave of support from fans, many of whom echoed her request for Ryan to return to directing. Comments poured in, with one fan writing, “Yes yes yes! Please convince Ryan to write and direct again! Lost River is such a beautifully haunting fairytale that is criminally underrated.” Another added, “Tell him we are waiting for another one!! And that we also want a Lost River t-shirt.”

Even Eva’s brother, Carlo, an actor himself, chimed in with a humorous comment: “Yes, that would be amazing, put me in it, we could play brother and sister.”

A Shift in Focus for Eva Mendes

While Eva has not appeared in any major films since Lost River, she has remained active in other areas. She has focused on building her own homecare brand, including her ownership of Skura sponges and endorsement deals. In 2021, she made a voice cameo in the popular TV series Bluey.

Eva also recently released a children’s book titled Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries, which reflects her growing interest in storytelling beyond acting. However, she has not ruled out a return to the screen—provided it’s alongside Ryan.

A Unique Collaboration

In a recent interview, Eva expressed that the only way she would consider returning to acting is if it were with Ryan. She praised their work together on The Place Beyond the Pines and Lost River, saying, “He gets something out of me that's never been accessible before.” She also noted that she had “my moments when I worked with really great people.”

As fans continue to hope for a new project from Ryan, the couple’s bond remains strong. Their journey from co-stars to lifelong partners is a testament to the power of love, creativity, and shared vision. Whether on or off the screen, their story continues to inspire.
