Dolly Parton Offers Guidance to Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire Following Brandon Blackstock's Tragic Passing

Dolly Parton Offers Support to Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire After Tragic Loss
Dolly Parton, the legendary country music icon, has expressed her deep concern and willingness to support her close friends Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire as they navigate the heartbreak of losing Brandon Blackstock. The passing of Blackstock, who was married to Clarkson and served as her manager for many years, has left a profound impact on those who knew him.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Parton shared her thoughts on coping with grief. "I think that you just have to be grateful for the years that you've had with someone, and you just try to remember the very best of all that," she said. She emphasized the importance of carrying forward the positive energy that people leave behind. "Take their energy that they had given you then, and you just kind of recycle that, and let that become a part of you. Just honor their memory and just know they're in a better place than we are these days."
Clarkson and Blackstock were married from 2013 until their divorce in 2022. During their time together, Blackstock played a significant role in managing Clarkson's career and co-parenting their two children, River Rose, 11, and Remy Alexander, 9. His death on August 7, at the age of 48, came after a battle with skin cancer, and he was surrounded by family at his home in Butte, Montana.
Reba McEntire, who was married to Blackstock’s father, Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015, also felt the loss deeply. Recently, she responded to a heartfelt tribute from her son Shelby Blackstock, who honored his half-brother. Reba expressed her admiration for Shelby's words, saying, "Very well said Shelby. Yes, we will miss him so much."
Dolly Parton has long been known for her strong bond with both Reba and Kelly. However, she too has been grappling with her own grief. Earlier this year, she lost her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean. The country music legend has spoken openly about her emotional journey. "I am a person of faith, and I truly believe that I'm going to see him again someday," she told the Associated Press in May. "I see him every day in my memories and in my heart, and in all the things that we used to do and all the things that we've built together."
Despite her sorrow, Parton has not stopped creating. Last month, she released a new song titled "If You Hadn't Been There," which she dedicated to her late husband shortly after his passing. While the song is a tribute to Carl, it also reflects her ongoing emotional process.
Parton has also taken a step back from producing new music, acknowledging that she isn’t ready to fully explore the emotions tied to her loss. "I will later, but I'm just coming up with such wonderful, beautiful ideas. But I think I won't finish it. I can't do it right now cause I got so many other things, and I can't afford the luxury of getting that emotional right now," she explained during an appearance on the "Khloé In Wonder Land" podcast.
As she continues to heal, Dolly remains a source of strength and compassion for those around her. Her words offer comfort to others facing similar losses, reminding them to cherish the memories and carry forward the love that once filled their lives.
