Musk described the event as a group of about a dozen young men attempting to assault a woman in her car at night. He noted that a DOGE team member intervened to protect her but was severely beaten, sustaining a concussion in the process.

This incident has prompted President Donald Trump to renew his calls for stricter laws in the District of Columbia. On Tuesday, Trump advocated for changing the city's legal framework to allow teenagers aged 14 and older to be prosecuted as adults, with potential long-term prison sentences. He shared a graphic image of the injured former DOGE employee on Truth Social, without naming Coristine. In his message, Trump criticized the current state of crime in Washington, despite data showing a 35% decrease in crime in 2024 compared to the previous year, marking a 30-year low.

Trump attributed the city’s crime issues to what he referred to as “local youths” who are not afraid of consequences. He emphasized that the laws in D.C. need to change to ensure that these individuals face appropriate punishment. “The Law in D.C. must be changed to prosecute these ‘minors’ as adults, and lock them up for a long time, starting at age 14,” Trump stated.
