Disneyland Fans Believe in a Fantastic Four Theory I Fully Support

The Synergy of Disney’s Marvel Expansion
Disney has long been known for its ability to create a seamless blend of entertainment, merchandise, and immersive experiences. Former CEO Bob Chapek once referred to the company as a “Synergy Machine,” highlighting how its various intellectual properties (IPs) are strategically used across different industries and platforms. This concept is on full display with the latest Marvel movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which has already begun to influence the theme park experience at Disneyland.
A New Presence in Tomorrowland
The Fantastic Four, along with H.E.R.B.I.E., have made their debut in Tomorrowland at Disneyland. This marks a significant shift from the usual limited character appearances seen at Avengers Campus. In addition to these new characters, there’s also a new nightly projection show on the facade of Space Mountain. This level of integration is a welcome change for many fans, especially those who have noticed the growing presence of Marvel characters in the park.
YouTuber Offhand Disney has pointed out that this could be just the beginning of a larger transformation for Tomorrowland. The YouTuber shared a post on July 26, 2025, stating that it seems something bigger is planned for the area. This sentiment aligns with previous speculation about the potential for more Marvel-related attractions in the future.
Why Tomorrowland Was the Right Choice
Before the official announcement, I had suggested that Tomorrowland was the ideal location for the Fantastic Four. The retro-future aesthetic of The Fantastic Four: First Steps perfectly matches the design of Tomorrowland. The film's visual style draws inspiration from the 1964 World’s Fair, a pivotal moment in the history of Disneyland and Walt Disney World. This event inspired Walt Disney’s vision for Epcot, a city of Tomorrow, which eventually became the Epcot theme park. If the Fantastic Four inspire a cosmetic update to Tomorrowland, it would be a fitting tribute to that legacy.
The Need for an Update in Tomorrowland
Despite its charm, Tomorrowland requires some modernization. While the attractions are still enjoyable, there are several areas that could use improvement. One major issue is the Autopia attraction, which is still waiting for the promised electric vehicle upgrade. Another concern is the Star Wars Launch Bay building, which no longer serves its original purpose since it ceased being the Innoventions building in 2015. Although a full-scale Fantastic Four attraction may not be feasible there, the space could benefit from a new concept or experience.
A cosmetic update to give Tomorrowland a more cohesive "retro-future" look, rather than just a "retro" feel, would enhance the overall guest experience. Additionally, incorporating Michael Giaccino’s excellent score from The Fantastic Four into the Tomorrowland music loop would be a welcomed addition, complementing his amazing work on the Space Mountain ride.
Upcoming Updates and Excitement
Disney is set to host Destination D23, a major fan event next month. This event will provide updates on new attractions coming to both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. If there are any big announcements planned for Tomorrowland, they could be revealed during the weekend. Fans are eagerly anticipating what the future holds for this iconic part of the park.
With the continued success of Marvel movies and the growing presence of Marvel characters in the parks, it’s clear that Disney is investing heavily in expanding its universe. Whether it's through new attractions, character interactions, or immersive experiences, the synergy between film and theme parks continues to evolve in exciting ways.
