Denise Richards' Daughter Speaks Out About OCD Struggle During Mom's Shocking Divorce

Sami Sheen Opens Up About Her OCD Struggles on TikTok
Sami Sheen, the daughter of actors Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards, has been sharing her personal journey with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) on social media. As the oldest of the couple’s two daughters, she has always been open with her fans about various aspects of her life, including her mental health challenges.
In a recent TikTok post, Sami opened up about how her OCD affects her daily routines, particularly when it comes to food. She explained that the condition makes it difficult for her to trust expiration dates on groceries. “I can't stand when people act like they're so OCD because they need to keep their room clean,” she said. “But I'm so OCD that even if I buy something from the grocery store, I'll read the expiration date over and over again, and somehow I convince myself it's fake and expired a year ago.”
She continued, “If I eat it, I’m going to get violently ill, so I have to throw it away and starve.” This level of anxiety is not uncommon for those living with OCD, which the Cleveland Clinic describes as a mental health condition involving unwanted thoughts and repetitive behaviors that interfere with daily life.
Fans responded positively to Sami’s honesty, with many sharing similar experiences. One user wrote, “It feels so good to see someone have the same OCD symptoms; everyone thinks I'm kidding or crazy.” Another added, “This is so real—I can't trust I'm seeing the expiration date properly, even with other people's confirmation.” A third fan shared, “I'm always late because I have to check everything off multiple times, even though I definitely did it the first time.”
Sami also addressed some of the comments, explaining that she once considered growing her own food after a fan suggested it. She also clarified that she doesn’t waste food carelessly, noting that she sometimes leaves items in the fridge to see if she can eventually eat them or gives them to a friend.
Addressing Toxic Relationships and Family Drama
Sami’s openness extends beyond her mental health. Recently, she shared insights on maintaining healthy boundaries in relationships, especially in toxic situations. She emphasized the importance of perspective, suggesting that individuals should imagine how they would advise a loved one in a similar situation. “If you had a daughter dating a man like this, what would you tell her?” she asked. “You’d tell her to break up with him, block him, move on.”
Her comments came just days before the divorce between her mother, Denise Richards, and her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, was made public. In a previous TikTok post, Sami subtly criticized narcissistic men, stating that it’s a waste of energy dealing with them. After Phypers filed for divorce, Sami posted a makeup video with the caption “this and no men,” hinting at her feelings toward the relationship.
Phypers cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split and requested spousal support from Richards. However, he also sought to keep their assets separate, indicating he didn’t want to share what was his.
Confronting Family Tensions
Sami has also faced family drama, most notably with her younger sister, Lola Sheen. Last month, she publicly criticized Lola for being homophobic, calling out her posts that criticized the LGBTQ+ community. Sami expressed disappointment, noting that their mother raised them to be accepting of all people. “It’s so sad to see my own sister is homophobic and transphobic now,” she said.
This isn’t the first time Sami has spoken out against a family member. Earlier, she resurfaced an old interview where her father, Charlie Sheen, downplayed the severity of drug use. She used the post to explain why she hasn’t spoken to him in a year.
What’s Next for Sami Sheen?
As Sami continues to share her story, fans are eager to see what she will do next. Whether it’s more discussions about mental health, family dynamics, or personal growth, one thing is clear—Sami is unafraid to speak her truth.
