Dean Cain’s Shift to Right-Wing Politics and Law Enforcement

Dean Cain, best known for his portrayal of Clark Kent in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has taken a dramatic turn in his public persona. Recently, he announced that he has joined Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), positioning himself as a law enforcement officer. In a social media video, he stated, “Hey everybody, Dean Cain here. For those who don't know, I am a sworn law enforcement officer, as well as being a filmmaker, and I felt it was important to join with our first responders to help secure the safety of all Americans, not just talk about it. So, I joined up.”

This move comes at a time when ICE has significantly ramped up its operations across the country, particularly in major urban centers. The agency has been focusing on immigration enforcement, which has sparked considerable debate. Many supporters of former President Donald Trump, including Cain, have framed those apprehended by ICE as criminals. However, data from the Cato Institute indicates that 93% of those arrested had no history of violent offenses.

According to reports, ICE has detained over 200,000 individuals to date. Cain has defended these actions, claiming that during Trump's presidency, ICE arrested hundreds of thousands of "criminals," including terrorists, rapists, murderers, pedophiles, MS-13 gang members, and drug traffickers. He emphasized that these were dangerous individuals who are now off the streets.

To attract new recruits, ICE is offering a $50,000 sign-on bonus. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem made a strong appeal for potential candidates, stating, “Your country is calling you to serve at ICE. Your country needs dedicated men and women of ICE to get the worst of the worst criminals out of our country. This is a defining moment in our nation's history. Your skills, your experience, and your courage have never been more essential. Together, we must defend the homeland.”

Cain has thrown his support behind this recruitment drive, encouraging others to join, promising they can start working immediately. He also reaffirmed his loyalty to Trump, saying, “I like that. I voted for that.”

However, not all of Cain’s followers are supportive of his decision. Some fans pointed out the age restrictions for joining ICE, noting that individuals over 37 cannot apply, even if they are licensed state law enforcement officers. A fan on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “Unfortunately, you can't join ICE if you're over 37 years of age - even if you're a fully licensed state law enforcement officer. As of now, they do not have waivers unless you were previously a federal law enforcement officer,” prompting Cain to suggest, “Perhaps we'll get that changed.”

Meanwhile, some fans of the Man of Steel expressed disappointment with Cain’s new direction. One fan wrote, “Holy cow. You have lost your mind. It's a sad day for America when we have to watch 'actors' pretend to be officers and trying to recruit folks. You are a sad little man,” while another remarked, “Superman himself would be disappointed in you, Dean.”

Cain has also criticized the latest Superman film featuring David Corenswet, calling it “woke.” In an interview with TMZ, he questioned, “How woke is Hollywood going to make this character? How much is Disney going to change their Snow White? Why are they going to change these characters [to] exist for the times?”

As the political landscape continues to evolve, Dean Cain’s shift from a beloved superhero actor to a vocal advocate for right-wing policies and law enforcement has sparked both support and criticism. His journey reflects broader societal debates about identity, politics, and the role of public figures in shaping national discourse.
