A Heartfelt Farewell and New Beginnings

Conner Floyd, known for his role as Chance Chancellor on The Young and the Restless, has shared a heartfelt message about his character's final moments. The actor expressed deep gratitude for his time on the show and acknowledged the emotional impact of leaving behind a role that had become close to his heart.

"Chance will always have a close place in my heart. He’s taught me a lot and I’ll miss him dearly," Floyd said in a recent Instagram post. His character was shot and killed during the July 28 episode, marking a dramatic end to his time on the long-running soap opera. Floyd took to social media to reflect on his four years with the series, sharing a clip of behind-the-scenes moments set to the Beastie Boys song “B-Boys Makin' With The Freak Freak.”

“It’s been real GC,” he wrote, referring to the show’s fictional town, Genoa City. “What a ride. I have truly been blessed to call myself a citizen of Genoa City. To share the stage with so many talented and hard working actors, creatives and crew members.”

Floyd also highlighted the legacy of the Chancellor family, which has been central to the show for decades. “This is without a doubt a special place,” he continued. “I’m grateful to have been a part of such an iconic piece of art that has lasted through the decades and that has such a stellar, die-hard fan base. Thank you for accepting me.”

A Heroic Exit

Chance’s death came after a tense storyline involving Cane Ashby, who invited him to a French estate to hide from a killer. The plot revealed that Aristotle Dumas’ assistant, Carter, was the culprit. During the confrontation, Chance intervened to protect Cane’s wife, leading to his tragic shooting.

In an interview with TV Insider, Floyd reflected on the significance of his character’s final moments. “As sad as it is, I think that's how Chance would want to go out,” he said. “That's his story that he's always been telling—that he's a hero—and the ultimate person to put everybody else above himself, so I think it's a little poetic in a way. And then the way I died in Billy Flynn's arms is also very poetic.”

Floyd also shared memories of filming his final scene, describing the emotional moment when he said goodbye to the cast and crew. “We had this last scene, and everyone was clapping, and I was saying goodbye to everyone and walking out, and I cried like a baby. But there are good things on the horizon.”

A New Chapter on Days of Our Lives

Last month, it was announced that Floyd will be joining the cast of Days of Our Lives as Chad DiMera. This comes after Bill Flynn, who played the role for over a decade, left the show. Floyd shared his excitement about the new opportunity, describing the experience as welcoming and supportive.

“Everyone's awesome and very welcoming and very helpful,” he told TV Insider. “I've hit the ground running, and it's been going great so far.”

Floyd began taping his scenes on June 23, but fans will have to wait until April 21, 2026, to see him in his first episode as Chad DiMera. Despite the bittersweet transition, Floyd remains optimistic about the future and the opportunities ahead.

Looking Ahead

Floyd’s journey from The Young and the Restless to Days of Our Lives marks a significant shift in his career. While he will miss the camaraderie and the legacy of the Chancellor family, he is excited to bring his talents to a new role and a new audience.

For fans of both shows, this transition represents not just a change in characters but also a continuation of storytelling that has captivated audiences for decades. As Floyd steps into his new role, he carries with him the lessons learned from Chance and the support of a passionate fanbase.

Both The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives continue to air new episodes, offering viewers a chance to follow their favorite characters and discover new ones. Whether it’s the drama of Genoa City or the twists of Salem, these shows remain staples of daytime television, providing entertainment and connection for millions of fans.
