Chris Pratt Avoids Political Talk With In-Law RFK Jr., Calls It 'A Nasty Business' | Video

Chris Pratt Keeps Politics Out of Family Gatherings, Says It's a 'Nasty Business'
Chris Pratt, known for his roles in Marvel and "Jurassic World," recently shared his thoughts on avoiding political discussions with his in-law, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., during an appearance on the "Club Random" podcast. The actor, married to Katherine Schwarzenegger, daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and cousin to RFK Jr. through her mother Maria Shriver, emphasized that he steers clear of political topics during family dinners.
Pratt described his relationship with RFK Jr. as positive, noting that they get along well during casual family gatherings. He praised RFK Jr. as funny and wonderful, expressing a personal fondness for him. However, he made it clear that he doesn’t engage in political conversations with his in-law, especially during holidays like Thanksgiving.
"I've spent a number of occasions hanging with him just in a strictly family dinner kind of vibe, and I really got along with him well," Pratt said. "I think he's great. I think he's funny. He's wonderful. I like him—yes, I love him."
He added that politics is a "nasty business" and that getting involved can lead to conflicts. While he hasn't been active in politics himself, he acknowledged that even Hollywood has its own political dynamics. Pratt mentioned how people can be portrayed differently than who they actually are, which makes him cautious about the stories surrounding RFK Jr.
"So I don't know what to believe, because it's not like I sit down with Bobby and go, 'So, hey, let's talk about this issue or that issue.' We're just playing cards, playing Mafia, having fun, having dinner," he explained. "I'm not picking his brain to find out which of the stories are true. I just kind of assume that none of them are."
Pratt also highlighted that his initiatives under the "Make American Healthy Again" program have received support from across the political spectrum. He specifically mentioned efforts to remove harmful substances from children’s food, which he believes would be beneficial regardless of political affiliation.
"I'd hate to be so mired in hatred for the president that any success from his administration is something I would have an allergic reaction to," he added. "Be reasonable here. There's certain things that would be a good thing to have. I want them all to be successful."
RFK Jr.’s Focus on Health and Lifestyle
RFK Jr. has focused on reducing ultra-processed foods and environmental toxins in the food supply as part of his health initiative. He has also criticized sedentary lifestyles in children and the overprescription of medications. Additionally, he has expressed concerns about vaccines, though these views have sparked controversy.
Pratt’s mother-in-law, Maria Shriver, has publicly criticized the Trump administration’s efforts to rename the Kennedy Center. She has also defended her cousin Caroline Kennedy, who opposed RFK Jr.’s nomination as secretary of health and human services.
Upcoming Projects for Chris Pratt
In addition to his personal life, Pratt is preparing for several new projects. He will star in Prime Video’s upcoming film "The Terminal List: Dark Wolf" and in Amazon MGM Studios’ sci-fi movie "Mercy." These roles continue to showcase his versatility as an actor.
While Pratt remains largely silent on political matters, his comments on avoiding family debates about politics reflect a broader sentiment among many individuals who prefer to keep personal relationships separate from political discourse. His approach highlights the importance of maintaining harmony in family settings, even when dealing with high-profile relatives involved in public life.
