CATA Launches Service Updates, Resumes MSU Campus Routes

Service Changes and Campus Route Resumption by CATA
The Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) is making several service changes that will take effect on August 18. These updates include the resumption of all Michigan State University campus routes, ensuring better connectivity for students, faculty, and staff.
Updated Route Information
Route 13 Groesbeck Area: A new trip departing from the CTC at 7:15 a.m. has been added to the schedule. This change aims to provide more flexibility for commuters in the Groesbeck area.
Route 20 South Harrison/Jolly/Dunckel: Buses on this route will now operate year-round with consistent schedules. The route will continue to serve the Spartan Village complex and the Gateway on both inbound and outbound trips. Enhanced service hours mean buses will start earlier and end later throughout the week. On weekdays, buses will run every 30 minutes until 7:15 p.m., then every 45 minutes until the end of service. On weekends, buses will be more frequent, running every 45 minutes throughout the day and evening.
Route 26 Abbot/Chandler: Spartan Service is returning with additional trips and extended hours. On weekdays, buses will run every 15 minutes until early evening, then every 45 minutes until 11:45 p.m. Saturday services will extend until 11:17 p.m., while Sunday service remains unchanged.
Route 32 Commuter Lot/Snyder Hall/Clinical Center: This route will resume with increased frequency, with buses departing every 15 minutes.
Route 35 South Neighborhood/Capital Area Multimodal Gateway: This route will no longer travel south of Service Road or to Spartan Village. Instead, it will enter the Gateway property for direct access to the building. The route will also travel on Birch Road and serve Wonders Hall.
Route 38 Spartan Village: This route has been discontinued. Buses will no longer serve Shaw Lane, Harrison Road, or Spartan Village.
Lot Link: The service to the Spartan Village complex will no longer be available.
Expansion of CATA Rydz
Delta Township Zone: The zone is expanding north to Willow Highway and east to Creyts Road, with a small extension to Waverly Road.
Downtown Lansing Zone: This area is expanding north to Old Town, east to Pennsylvania Avenue, south to Mt. Hope, and slightly west to Waverly Road.
Airport/MSU Service: The Airport/MSU service will now extend until 1 a.m., but only through prebooking. Travelers must schedule their rides in advance. A new late-night service will connect a residential area in Lansing with the expanded Delta Township zone, and all rides will require pre-booking.
Campus Service Resumes
Campus service will officially resume on Monday, August 18, starting at 7 a.m. on Routes 30, 31, 32, 33, and 39. The Lot Link service will begin at 7 p.m., followed by the Night Owl service at 2 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
