Brittany Snow's Self-Care Secrets During 'The Hunting Wives' Shoot

Brittany Snow’s Self-Care Rituals and the Power of Stillness
Brittany Snow, known for her role in the Netflix series The Hunting Wives, has been deeply immersed in her work over the past year and a half. As the show continues to gain traction, she’s now taking time to focus on herself and embrace moments of stillness. For Snow, self-care is not just a luxury—it’s a vital part of her life that has evolved significantly over the years.
“I’m a restless, nervous person by nature,” she shares. “As I’ve gotten older, sitting with my feelings and sitting in the uncomfortable present moment has been such an act of growth.” This mindset has led her to develop a variety of wellness routines that help her stay grounded and centered.
Snow relies on a few essential items during these quiet moments: a good pen and notepad, a red-light mask, and candles. “Candles are such a huge part of my daily practice,” she explains. “It’s just having that little moment of ‘Oh, I’m going to make time for something that’s just for me, something that makes me feel good and grounded.’”
She has partnered with Yankee Candle for the brand’s latest collection, highlighting her favorite scents like Clean Cotton for layering, Sage & Citrus for unwinding, and seasonal favorites such as Christmas Cookie and Spiced Pumpkin. “I don’t like pumpkin spice lattes. I know that’s not feminist of me or whatever,” she jokes. “But I really like that scent in the fall.”
Morning Routine: Starting the Day Right
Snow’s morning routine is designed to set a positive tone for the day. She aims to wake up before 8:30 a.m., usually at 7 a.m., where she starts with a greens smoothie and coffee with Nutpods. Then, she lights a candle to create a sense of calm and intention.
“I always put my Omnilux mask on and journal at the same time,” she says. “That can be hard, but you get used to seeing through the red light.” She also enjoys doing Wordle and a mini New York Times puzzle to keep her mind active early in the morning.
Afterward, she applies lotions, brushes her teeth, and prepares for the day ahead—whether it’s calls, emails, or other tasks.
Centering Throughout the Day
When it comes to maintaining peace throughout the day, Snow emphasizes the importance of small moments of centering. If she’s working, she tries to take a brief pause before leaving for the day, allowing herself a moment to gather her thoughts before heading out.
During lunch, she makes sure to disconnect from her phone and sit with herself or whomever she’s with. During filming for The Hunting Wives, she and co-star Malin Akerman would often have “powwows” in her apartment, lighting a candle and reflecting on the day’s events. “It was nice that we always had this time to reconnect and figure out how we were going to have fun through the chaos of it all,” Snow recalls.
Nighttime Wellness: Unplugging and Relaxing
Snow’s nighttime routine focuses on winding down. “I try not to use devices at night, but I’m a sucker for a good movie before bed,” she admits. Lighting a candle while watching a film helps set the mood, whether she’s alone or with someone. “It feels sort of romantic,” she says. “It’s just lovely.”
The Ideal Treat-Yourself Day
When asked about her ideal treat-yourself day, Snow describes a perfect blend of relaxation and connection. “I don’t want to be bougie about this, but I’m going to be honest,” she says. “My manager’s birthday was yesterday, and she actually had my favorite day: a spa, a psychic reading, and dinner with her girlfriends — 10 out of 10 day.”
For Snow, a spa day is one of her favorite things, even if she doesn’t receive any services. “I just like being in the atmosphere.” Adding a psychic reading or healer session to the mix gives her a sense of fun and connection. Ending the day with dinner among close friends, wine, laughter, and her dog, is the ultimate way to unwind.
Favorite Self-Care Products
When it comes to skincare, Snow swears by Kate Somerville products and a peptide face oil from Vsoto. She also values a great notepad and pen, which she says makes a big difference. “This is sort of lame, but sometimes when I go to restaurants and I’m signing the check, and they have a great pen, I do tip them extra and write a note saying, ‘I’m taking this pen’ — it’s for my self-care!”
Reflections on Growth and Stillness
In 2023, Snow shared some lessons she’d tell her younger self, including the idea that avoiding stillness leads to repeating patterns. She still stands by this sentiment, crediting a quote from Cory Muscara’s book Stop Missing Your Life: “Show me all the ways that you avoid stillness, and I’ll show you all the patterns you repeat in your life.”
“Sometimes it’s uncomfortable, but I think that’s when you come back to yourself and find out what you’re really feeling,” she reflects. “Those are the times I’ve gone through the most growth, especially in the hard moments.”
Manifesting a New Year
Looking ahead, Snow is excited to create a home this year. “I just bought this house, and I want to feel settled,” she says. “Over the past year and a half, I’ve been working all over the place. I’m so grateful, but now that I’m home, I want to create an atmosphere that makes me feel present and like myself.”
