A tragic shooting occurred in Midtown Manhattan on Monday, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including a prominent Blackstone executive. The incident took place at 375 Park Avenue, a high-rise building in one of New York City’s most bustling areas. The victims included Wesley LePatner, a key figure in the real estate sector, and three others who were also killed during the attack.

Wesley LePatner was the global head of Core+ Real Estate and the chief executive officer of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust. She was known for her leadership, passion, and dedication to her work. According to reports, she was a wife and mother of two children, adding to the profound sense of loss felt by those who knew her. Her role at Blackstone made her a respected and integral part of the company's operations.

The shooting reportedly began in the lobby of the building when Shane Tamura, a 27-year-old individual, opened fire. In addition to LePatner, an NYPD officer named Didarul Islam was also killed. Two other individuals lost their lives on the 33rd floor of the building, where several offices are located.

LePatner joined Blackstone in 2014 and played a vital role in the company’s growth and success. Beyond her professional achievements, she was also a member of the board of directors of the UJA-Federation of New York, where she was recognized for her leadership and commitment to community service.

Honoring a Remarkable Leader

The UJA-Federation of New York released a statement praising LePatner’s impact on the financial world and her contributions to the Jewish community. “An exceptional leader in the financial world, she brought thoughtfulness, vision, and compassion to everything she did,” the statement said. In 2023, she was honored with the Alan C. Greenberg Young Leadership Award at the organization’s Wall Street Dinner.

Her legacy extends beyond her professional achievements. Other Victims Identified

In addition to LePatner, three other individuals were identified as victims of the shooting. Aland Etienne, a SEIU security officer, was among those who lost their lives. According to union 32BJ SEIU, Etienne was a dedicated and committed security officer who took his responsibilities seriously. His brother, Gathmand Etienne, shared a heartfelt message on social media, describing him as a father, son, and a light in their lives.

Julia Hyman, 27, was also identified as a victim of the shooting. She worked as an associate at Rudin Management, whose offices are located on the 33rd floor of the building. The company expressed its grief over the tragedy, stating that everyone at Rudin Management is devastated by the senseless act. “We grieve with the families and loved ones of those lost, and we pray for the full recovery of those injured,” the statement read.
