Big Balls Beat Prompts Trump to Deploy National Guard for DC Crime

Trump Considers National Guard Deployment to Combat Crime in Washington D.C.
During a recent press briefing, former President Donald Trump expressed his intention to consider deploying the National Guard to address rising crime levels in Washington D.C. This statement came in response to a violent incident involving an individual who was severely injured while trying to intervene in an unarmed carjacking. The event has sparked renewed debate about the city’s safety and the role of federal intervention.
The victim, known online as “Big Balls” and identified as Edward Coristine, was brutally beaten during the incident that occurred early Sunday morning. According to a police report obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation, Coristine was attempting to assist a second victim when he was confronted by suspects. His actions led to a confrontation that resulted in serious injuries. The suspects fled the scene after a police cruiser arrived, with two juveniles later being arrested for the crime.
Trump addressed the issue during an Oval Office press briefing, where he was asked if the possibility of federalizing the city’s police force remained an option. He responded affirmatively, stating that the crime rate in D.C. is "ridiculous." While not providing specific data, he mentioned that visual comparisons between D.C. and other cities would highlight the severity of the problem. He emphasized the need for a safe and clean capital, suggesting that measures such as beautification projects and improved infrastructure are also part of the solution.
This call for federal intervention follows a tragic incident on June 30, when Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, an intern for Republican Kansas Rep. Ron Estes, was fatally shot in the city. In the aftermath, reports indicated that the White House was considering a federal takeover of the U.S. capital, with Trump expressing a desire for the city to operate "flawlessly."
Trump further elaborated on his concerns about the city's condition, mentioning issues such as graffiti, litter, poor road conditions, and deteriorating medians. He stated that these problems contribute to the overall sense of insecurity and that steps must be taken to improve the environment. He also hinted at the potential deployment of the National Guard, suggesting it could happen "very quickly" if necessary.
In a separate post on Truth Social, Trump expressed frustration over the high crime rate in D.C., referencing a recent incident where a victim was "beaten mercilessly" by "local thugs." Although he did not name Coristine directly, a photo of a young man covered in blood was shared, which many recognized as the victim of the attack. Elon Musk, the former head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), responded to Trump's post, confirming that a DOGE staff member had been attacked and calling for federal action.
According to the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, Coristine reported witnessing the suspects approach the scene. The police report indicates that the suspects demanded a second vehicle from the victims. Concerned for the safety of the second victim, Coristine intervened by pushing her into her car and confronting the suspects. During the altercation, he was assaulted, prompting the arrival of a police cruiser and the subsequent escape of approximately 10 suspects.
The case highlights the growing concerns about public safety in Washington D.C. and the potential for federal involvement in addressing these challenges. As the city continues to grapple with crime and infrastructure issues, the discussion around solutions remains ongoing. Whether through increased law enforcement presence, community initiatives, or policy changes, the path forward for D.C. remains uncertain.
