Tragic Hike Ends in Murder of a Married Couple in Arkansas

A devastating incident occurred over the weekend when Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, were found dead during a hike with their two young daughters at Devil’s Den State Park in Arkansas. The couple was reportedly killed while protecting their children, who were later discovered unharmed nearby.

Authorities have confirmed that the family was on a routine hike when they encountered a suspect. The Brink family released a statement expressing their grief and emphasizing that the couple died "protecting their little girls." The two daughters, aged 7 and 9, were found safe in the woods after the attack, though the circumstances surrounding the crime remain under investigation.

A Composite Sketch Released

Arkansas State Police (ASP) have released a composite sketch of the man they believe is responsible for the murders. The sketch shows a man wearing a baseball cap, and investigators are asking the public to help identify him. Authorities also mentioned that the suspect “likely sustained an injury while attacking the couple,” according to KPTV.

The suspect is described as a white male with a medium build, wearing a long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, dark pants, a dark hat, and sunglasses. He was also believed to be carrying a black backpack and wearing fingerless gloves. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Suspect's Possible Escape Route

According to reports, the suspect was seen driving toward a park exit in a black, four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda. His license plate was covered with electrical or duct tape, suggesting an attempt to avoid detection. Investigators believe he may have traveled on State Highway 170 or State Highway 220 near the state park on Saturday.

Police have asked individuals who visited the park on Saturday to review their cellphone photos, videos, or GoPro footage for any images of the suspect. Residents living near the park are also encouraged to check security and game camera footage and report any findings to the authorities.

No Cellphone Service in the Area

The location where the killings took place is described as a remote and rural area with rugged terrain and thick vegetation. Importantly, there is no cellphone service in the region, making communication and response efforts more challenging.

Shea Lewis, the Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism, has expressed deep concern over the incident. In a statement, she said, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred at Devil’s Den State Park. Our hearts are with the victims’ loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
