A New Chapter for Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire

The AMC series Interview With the Vampire, based on Anne Rice’s iconic novels, is entering a new phase with the announcement of its third season. At San Diego Comic-Con, the show revealed significant updates, including a name change and the introduction of new cast members.

The third season will be titled The Vampire Lestat, aligning with the second book in Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series. This shift reflects the story’s focus on the character Lestat de Lioncourt, who takes center stage in this installment. The modern adaptation follows the journey of Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson), Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid), and Claudia (Delainey Hayles), as they navigate the dark world of blood, love, and immortality through the eyes of journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian).

This season will tell the story from Lestat’s perspective, showcasing his transformation into a rock star and his rise to fame. The narrative promises to delve deeper into his personal struggles, especially with the return of his mother, Gabriella, played by Jennifer Ehle. Reid shared that the presence of Gabriella has a profound impact on Lestat, describing her as “coming in like an asteroid in season 3. She's about to destroy everything in her wake.”

In addition to the main cast, several returning actors have been confirmed for the upcoming season. Delainey Hayles, who plays Claudia, and Assad Zaman, who portrays Armand, will reprise their roles. However, Hayles’ return is unexpected since Claudia was believed to have died in Season 2. Fans speculate that the show may include flashbacks or ghostly visions of Claudia as Lestat ascends to stardom.

New additions to the cast include Ella Ballentine as Baby Jenks, Jeanine Serralles as Christine Claire, Christopher Heyerdahl as Marius, and Damien Atkins as Magnus. The series also features a stellar lineup of executive producers, including Mark Johnson, Rolin Jones, Mark Taylor, Hannah Moscovitch, and Christopher Rice. The late Anne Rice is also credited as an executive producer.

Talamasca: Another Addition to the Anne Rice Immortal Universe

During Comic-Con, AMC also announced the premiere date for Talamasca, the third installment in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. Set to debut on October 26, the series follows a secret society that monitors and controls supernatural beings such as witches and vampires.

The show features a talented cast, including Nicholas Denton, William Fichtner, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Elizabeth McGovern, and Celine Buckens. Eric Bogosian will make a guest appearance as Daniel Molloy, while Jason Schwartzman will also appear as a guest star.

Rolin Jones, the showrunner, revealed that the role of Akasha, first portrayed by Aaliyah in the 2002 film Queen of the Damned, has been cast. However, the actress’s identity remains a mystery, leaving fans eager for more details.

As the anticipation builds for both The Vampire Lestat and Talamasca, viewers can expect a rich and immersive experience rooted in the dark, gothic world of Anne Rice’s vampire chronicles. With new characters, compelling storylines, and a stellar cast, the third season promises to be a thrilling continuation of the beloved series.
