7-Eleven Manager's Roommate Speaks Out After Fatal Workplace Fight

A Roommate's Outcry Over Unanswered Questions
Keyra Meierbachtol is speaking out for the first time about her former roommate, a 7-Eleven assistant manager who was allegedly involved in a fight with a coworker that led to the coworker’s death. The incident has left many questioning why no arrests have been made and what the next steps will be.
Jessica McLaughlin, a 24-year-old woman, died on July 2 after being declared brain-dead following a violent altercation with her manager on June 24. According to reports, McLaughlin was brutally beaten inside the store, and her family claims she was held down and prevented from breathing during the attack. Coworkers who tried to intervene were reportedly also attacked.
Meierbachtol, who lived with the manager, described the shock and confusion she felt when she learned of the incident. She said it was difficult to process what had happened and expressed frustration over the lack of action taken by authorities.
"I didn't know what to do or think. I felt like I couldn't breathe. I was scared, but then I was also in shock," Meierbachtol told FOX 11. "It just felt like the Twilight Zone. Why doesn’t anybody care?"
Despite the severity of the situation, no arrests or charges have been announced. Meierbachtol expected an arrest to happen soon, but more than a month later, nothing has changed. She described the manager as being "frayed and in shock" the night of the altercation, but she could not help but feel the gravity of what had occurred.
The incident has sparked public concern, especially given the presence of cameras and witnesses. Meierbachtol took to TikTok to share her fears and frustrations, posting a video that went viral. She questioned the lack of urgency in the case and called for answers.
"There also doesn’t feel like there’s any urgency on the matter. There were plenty of cameras and witnesses … you would think there would be at least something to bring the answers to the public by this point," she said.
Meierbachtol has since decided to move out of the apartment she shared with the manager. She remains in contact with Jessica’s family and hopes for justice to be served. However, the Los Angeles Police Department has stated that the investigation is ongoing, but they have provided no further details. FOX 11 also contacted the LA County DA's Office, but no response has been received yet.
The medical examiner has not yet released an official cause of death, leaving many questions unanswered. The case continues to draw attention, with people demanding transparency and accountability.
Meierbachtol’s story highlights the emotional toll of such incidents and the need for swift action in cases involving violence and potential criminal behavior. As the investigation continues, the community waits for clarity and for those responsible to be held accountable.
