Tracking Indianapolis Homicides

IndyStar is closely monitoring homicides in Indianapolis to better understand the patterns and causes of violence in the city. This list is constantly being updated as new information becomes available. The data comes from various sources, including the Indianapolis Police Department, the coroner's office, court records, and interviews with family members and friends of the victims. Recent Cases

Xavieon Whitlow, 17
On August 17, Xavieon Whitlow was found shot inside an apartment at The Grounds complex on Central Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the shooting occurred during a party in a short-term rental unit, but no witnesses were located.

Paul Vincent Thompson III, 25
On August 15, Paul Vincent Thompson III was found shot at the edge of the street in the Meadowlark Drive neighborhood. Detectives found shell casings at the scene and believe a suspect or suspects fled in a speeding car based on witness accounts.

Robbie Glen Vidito, 56
On August 14, Robbie Glen Vidito was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Denison Street and West Troy Avenue. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead. Authorities believe the incident was intentional, and an arrest was made in the case on August 15.

Teddy Verl Chapple, 32
On August 10, Teddy Verl Chapple was found shot outside his home on Oak Avenue. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition before being pronounced dead. Police said the shooting stemmed from a family disturbance, and at least one person was in custody, though they were later released.

Jesus H. Estrada, 39
Also on August 10, Jesus H. Estrada was found stabbed near North State Avenue. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Karon Clay, 33, and Karter Clay, 3
On August 5, Karon Clay and her 3-year-old son were found dead inside their home in Greenwood. The deaths are being investigated as homicides, and the cause of death has not been released. Karon was in her third trimester of pregnancy at the time of her death.

Scott Anthony Foor Jr., 19
On August 2, Scott Anthony Foor Jr. was found shot outside a Family Dollar store on Michigan Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No suspects were immediately announced.

Antonio Lamont Carney, 50
On July 25, Antonio Lamont Carney was found shot at his home on West 29th Street. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

Edier Alexander Hernandez Rivera, 20
On July 25, Edier Alexander Hernandez Rivera was found shot inside a vehicle after a car crash on Griffin Road. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later died.

Walter McNary, 76
On July 24, Walter McNary was involved in a police pursuit after a shooting. He was eventually hit by return fire and taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

Nola B. McNary, 60
Also on July 24, Nola B. McNary was shot at her home on North Ritter Avenue. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition before being pronounced dead. Her husband, Walter McNary, was also involved in the incident.

Sabrina Nicole Harbert, 42
On July 19, Sabrina Nicole Harbert was found shot outside Jack’s Liquor Store on Georgetown Road. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later died. A suspect has since been arrested.

Vince Gruber, 25
On July 17, Vince Gruber was found with traumatic injuries at a homeless encampment near South Tibbs Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jereme Curtis Dillingham, 28
On July 17, Jereme Curtis Dillingham was found shot in the parking lot of Mucky Duck Pub. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later died. A person of interest was later taken into custody.

Kevin Williams, 38
On July 15, Kevin Williams was found shot inside a vehicle on Wellington Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dawn E. Adams, 69
On July 14, Dawn E. Adams was found with trauma injuries outside a home on North Alton Avenue. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Simeon Jones, 44
On July 13, Simeon Jones was found shot inside a shed at a home on North Parker Avenue. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later died.

Wayland Coe, 24 and Isreal Offett, 12
On July 12, Wayland Coe and Isreal Offett were found shot near a discount store on West 38th Street. Both were pronounced dead. Court documents revealed the motive behind the killings.

Shawnnetta Small, 44
On July 11, Shawnnetta Small was found stabbed in a basement on North Downey Avenue. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and a person of interest was detained and later arrested.

Rodney Ward Jr., 16
On July 11, Rodney Ward Jr. was found shot at a BP gas station on North Mitthoefer Road. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later died.

Arturo Casimiro III, 50
On July 11, Arturo Casimiro III was found shot in the backyard of his home on Brookside Parkway North Drive. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition before being pronounced dead. A dog was also injured.

Jalen Stephen Williams, 30
On July 6, Jalen Stephen Williams was found shot on the front porch of a home on Roosevelt Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Xavion Jackson, 16, and Azareaon S. Cole, 15
On July 5, Xavion Jackson and Azareaon S. Cole were found shot during a downtown disturbance. Five people were taken to the hospital, and four teens were arrested. The ages of those shot ranged from 16 to 21.

Dontae Anthony Lewis, 29
On July 5, Dontae Anthony Lewis was found shot near Ensign Graham Edward Martin Park. Initially reported as self-inflicted, further investigation ruled out that possibility.

David DeJesus Lira-Mojica, 23
On July 4, David DeJesus Lira-Mojica was found shot in Eagle Creek Park. Two men were shot, and charges were filed in the case.

Crysty L. Vazquez, 51
On July 3, Crysty L. Vazquez was found shot at John J. Barton Towers. This is believed to be an unintentional discharge of a firearm.

Jaylon Hayden, 18
On June 30, Jaylon Hayden was found shot in a neighborhood on North Butler Street. He was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Billy Ray McKinney, 53
On June 29, Billy Ray McKinney was found shot near two cars on Southeastern Avenue. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later died.

Isaiah Joseph Wilson, 19, and Jesse Alexander Quiroz, 19
On June 29, Isaiah Wilson and Jesse Quiroz were found fatally shot on Cornelius Avenue. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Courtney Lashaw Haynes, 36
On June 28, Courtney Lashaw Haynes was found shot during a double shooting at Thatcher Park. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kenneth Lyles, 31, and Johnny Talley Jr., 27
On June 28, Kenneth Lyles and Johnny Talley Jr. were found shot during a triple shooting at Carriage House East Apartments. Two people were arrested following a 15-mile-long chase.

Kamora Woods, 27
On June 26, Kamora Woods was found shot dead at Scarborough Lake Apartments. A man was arrested in the case.

Montrell Austin, 22
On June 26, Montrell Austin was found shot in the parking lot of Regency Park Apartments. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shawna Renee Durst, 32
On June 20, Shawna Renee Durst was found shot on North Kenyon Street. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later died.

Jermiaha Charles Billups, 19
On June 13, Jermiaha Charles Billups was found shot on North Tibbs Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kia Robinson, 39
On June 3, Kia Robinson was found shot during a double shooting on North Pennsylvania Street. A man was charged with murder and other related offenses.

Bailie Madison Blair, 19
On May 30, Bailie Madison Blair was found shot on Burbank Road. A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with the case.

Laurice Pate, 19
On May 28, Laurice Pate was found shot on South Gladstone Avenue. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Rodney L. Beeler III, 23
On May 26, Rodney L. Beeler III was found shot at 7 Pointe Apartments. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Zara Arnold, 5
On May 19, Zara Arnold was found with traumatic injuries after reportedly falling down stairs. Her father was arrested for neglect and murder.

Charles Clay Collins, 62
On May 17, Charles Clay Collins was struck by a vehicle during a robbery at The Sterling apartment complex. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Martavius J. Gray, 17
On May 17, Martavius J. Gray was found injured during a block party near East 29th and North Dearborn streets. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Joseph Markus Lee, 42
On May 15, Joseph Markus Lee was found dead inside Prairie Apartment Homes on Jamestown Court. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Makylah Jean Brent, 24
On May 14, Makylah Jean Brent was found shot in a Massachusetts Avenue parking lot. Police are searching for the shooter.

Brian Anthony McCoy Jr., 31
On May 8, Brian Anthony McCoy Jr. was found stabbed on Waterfront Parkway West Drive. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Sapanna Q. Harris-Williams, 42
On May 3, Sapanna Q. Harris-Williams was found shot on West St. Claire Street. A person of interest was detained and later arrested.

Aundre Johnson, 21
On May 1, Aundre Johnson was found shot at Waterfront Pointe Apartments. No arrests or suspects have been announced.

Bitegensimana Ndanayo, 26
On May 1, Bitegensimana Ndanayo was found shot behind a shopping plaza on Madison Avenue. No arrests or suspects have been announced.

Darius Timberlake, 26
On April 23, Darius Timberlake was found shot at a home in Lawrence. A man was later arrested on a charge of murder.

Travon Jamal Davis, 18
On April 21, Travon Jamal Davis was found shot inside an apartment at The Hub at Nora. A person of interest was detained but later released.

Forrest Tab Grant, 62
On April 17, Forrest Tab Grant was found shot near a bus stop on West Morris Street. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Malachi May, 18
On April 15, Malachi May was found shot inside his pickup at a Phillips 66 gas station. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Sean J. Cox, 18, and Emmanuel J. Stone, 14
On April 6, Sean Cox and Emmanuel Stone were found shot on West 27th Street. Cox was pronounced dead at the scene, and Stone died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Ryan Aaron McClellan, 61
On April 3, Ryan Aaron McClellan was found shot inside a car on East Washington Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jaiden D Gardfrey, 18
On April 2, Jaiden D Gardfrey was found shot inside a home on West 32nd Street. A man was arrested for the shooting.

Michael Lee Robertson, 19
On April 1, Michael Lee Robertson was found shot at a house on Ralston Avenue. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later died.

Tywon Jones, 17
On March 30, Tywon Jones was found shot after a disturbance at a gas station. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Isaiah Booker, 19
On March 30, Isaiah Booker was found shot near a dumpster at Carriage House East. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Warren D. Murrell, Jr., 26
On March 28, Warren D. Murrell, Jr. was found shot at Frederick Square Apartments. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

James Walter McGuire, 48
On March 28, James Walter McGuire was found shot inside Rowney Terrace Apartments. A suspect was located and shot by police before being taken to a hospital.

Kia Gooch, 29
On March 25, Kia Gooch was found shot on North Rural Street. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Mark Anthony Sanchez, 48
On March 24, Mark Anthony Sanchez was found shot at a home on Dayton Avenue. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Andre Dwayne Canady Jr., 32
On March 23, Andre Dwayne Canady Jr. was found shot on the front porch of a home. His cousin was arrested for his alleged role in the shooting.

Kyle Joseph Sallee, 48
On March 20, Kyle Joseph Sallee was found shot inside a trailer park home. A man was arrested and officially charged with his killing.

Clarence McGauhey, 36
On March 12, Clarence McGauhey was found shot at Travel Inn hotel parking lot. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Georgia Ann Beans, 63
On March 9, Georgia Ann Beans was found shot at Serenity Manor. Darrien Curry was arrested and charged with murder.

Charles L. Mitchell Jr., 21
On March 9, Charles L. Mitchell Jr. was found dead at Community East Hospital. The shooting happened in the 7100 block of Twin Oaks Drive.

Shawn Lamont Woods, 52
On March 8, Shawn Lamont Woods was found stabbed at Peppermill Farms Apartments. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lucas Brearly, 19, and Zachary Johnson, 25
On March 5, Lucas Brearly and Zachary Johnson were found dead after Brownsburg police heard gunshots. A person of interest was taken into custody.

Ralph McCraig, 57
On March 4, Ralph McCraig was found shot after a neighbor dispute over loud music in Lawrence. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Chastin Wayne Wheeler, 40
On March 2, Chastin Wayne Wheeler was found shot near the Brookside Community Center. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Griffin Peyton Russo, 18
On March 2, Griffin Peyton Russo was found shot inside an apartment at The Hub at Nora. A person of interest was detained but later released.

Joshua Harris, 20
On February 28, Joshua Harris was found shot in a car crash at an intersection. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Robert Blaine Smith, 32
On February 28, Robert Blaine Smith was found shot at Texas Roadhouse. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Pedro Amasifuen Mozombite, 38
On February 27, Pedro Amasifuen Mozombite was found shot in an alley on north side. A man was arrested on a charge of murder.

Cruize Hodge, 28
On February 25, Cruize Hodge was found shot on Oakland Avenue. Two men were arrested in connection with the case.

Adam Javonta Sykes, 31
On February 25, Adam Javonta Sykes was fatally shot by IMPD officer Grant Snyder. It is unclear if he pointed a gun at the officer.

Kristopher Rashad Somerville, 36
On February 25, Kristopher Rashad Somerville was found shot on West 34th Street. No suspects have been announced.

Nevaeh Jordan Hill, 19
On February 24, Nevaeh Jordan Hill was found shot at Wylde at Eagle Creek apartment complex. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and died the next day.

Demetrius Starks, 21
On February 19, Demetrius Starks was found shot inside a car on Shelby Street. A man was arrested in the case.

Cameron Curtis Clay, 20
On February 18, Cameron Curtis Clay was found shot inside a home near Wes Montgomery Park. Two men were arrested in connection with the case.

Tyrisha Adashauna Gray, 24
On February 16, Tyrisha Adashauna Gray was found dead with trauma at 16 Park Apartments. A man was arrested in the case.

Willie Stott, 44
On February 1, Willie Stott was found shot inside Bussey & Harris Barber Shop West. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Camari Hunt, 23
On January 31, Camari Hunt was found shot less than half a mile from an IPS school. No suspects were immediately announced.

Skylar Gardner, 2
On January 25, Skylar Gardner was found dead under a dresser inside an apartment. Her mother was charged with murder and neglect.

Jarrell Lamont Pryor, 26
On January 25, Jarrell Lamont Pryor was found shot on East 49th Street. A woman and a man were arrested in the case.

Rodney Nixon Jr., 37
On January 20, Rodney Nixon Jr. was found shot at Proctor Place Apartments. A 16-year-old boy was arrested for his alleged role in the shooting.

Chyon Andre Crabtree, 25
On January 19, Chyon Andre Crabtree was found dead inside a home on Holloway Avenue. No arrests were immediately announced.

Mary Ogle, 76
On January 17, Mary Ogle was found fatally beaten at home on Questend Drive. Her husband was detained and later arrested.

Jeremy L. Patton, 38
On January 15, Jeremy L. Patton was found shot during a robbery at Overlook at the Fairgrounds Apartments. A person of interest was detained but later released.

Trevor Matthew Marrero, 23
On January 15, Trevor Matthew Marrero was found shot after a failed carjacking at Trader’s Point shopping complex. One of the suspects was shot and died.

Bethany Collette, 47
On January 13, Bethany Collette was found shot during a domestic dispute at Timber Point Apartments. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Deandra Clay-Staples, 14
On January 11, Deandra Clay-Staples was found shot and left in the snow at Laurelwood Apartments. She was the first youth homicide of the year.

Lowell Randall Quinnette, 60, and Deborah Denise Russell, 57
On January 8, Lowell Randall Quinnette and Deborah Denise Russell were found shot during a welfare check in a double homicide. No suspects or arrests have been announced.

Shannon Ramone Campbell Jr., 23
On January 3, Shannon Ramone Campbell Jr. was found shot on Howard Street. An arrest was made in the case.

Charles Arnold Jr., 53
On January 3, Charles Arnold Jr. was found shot on North Capitol Avenue. No charges have been filed.
