The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Bradford Gille of Afton, had a history of assaultive incidents and controlled substance violations. Gille entered the Walmart and remained inside for some time before the attack began. He used a 3 and 1/2 inch cutting blade to stab 11 individuals. According to reports, a group of five or six people intervened, with one holding a gun and urging Gille to drop the knife. Despite his resistance, he was eventually tackled and detained.

I thought maybe it was like a terror attack,” Carter said. “And then it was fear, disbelief, shock.”
