Venga has gained recognition from regulatory authorities, including the Bank of Spain and Poland’s Ministry of Finance, as a licensed Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP). In addition, Venga has submitted a pre-application for a MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) license, which will become effective in 2024. The MiCA framework aims to establish a comprehensive regulatory environment for the crypto sector across the European Union. Venga’s CEO, Michael Stroev, emphasized that the company has always prioritized compliance, ensuring that users receive the same level of trust and security as traditional financial institutions.

“Since I moved to Barcelona in 2020, it has been my dream to build a startup that truly feels local and has a product and service tailored to Catalan and Spanish speakers and communities. Having the languages available in our app is the beginning of our broader objective to create a hyper-localized Venga experience for Barcelona, Catalunya, and all of Spain.”

The development of the Catalan and Spanish versions of the app was influenced by Venga’s team members, including its CTO, Raul Arribas. Almost a third of the company’s workforce is composed of Catalans, reflecting the deep connection between the team and the local culture. Catalan is spoken by approximately ten million people across Catalonia, the Valencia region, Andorra, the Balearic Islands, parts of southern France, and some areas of Italy. Venga identified that nearly 20% of the Catalan population uses cryptocurrency but lacks access to services in their native language. By addressing this gap, the company is helping to bridge the digital divide and promote greater financial inclusion.
