Chris Evers, a resident of the Oak Cliff neighborhood, described the moment he and his family were jolted awake by a "very loud bang." He recalled that the sound resembled thunder, but it quickly became clear that something far more alarming had happened.

"The smell of the vehicle hitting the house was in the house, so it smelled like a car wreck inside the house within the first two minutes," Evers said. He stepped outside and saw pieces of the car scattered across the front yard of their home.

Evers explained that the impact of the crash was severe, as the car went through the bathroom between the bedroom and the master bedroom. Part of the vehicle even ended up in his daughter's front bedroom and nearly penetrated his mother-in-law’s corner bedroom. The destruction was extensive, with the entire shower area destroyed and personal items still present in the space.

Unusual Nature of the Crash

Dallas Police Sergeant Robert Salone noted that incidents involving multiple homes are rare. According to him, the driver likely lost control several houses away from the point of impact. The car hit grass at the first home, then crashed into the structure, broke through a fence, and finally plowed into the garage of a second home.

"This is new for me. Usually, it's just one house involved. This is unusual. You normally don't get two houses involved," Salone said. Despite the severity of the crash, both families managed to escape without any injuries, which many consider a miracle.

Evers mentioned that one of his neighbors believed the vehicle was moving at nearly 100 miles per hour. This raised concerns about speed in a residential area where the speed limit is typically 25 or 30 miles per hour.
