Muni Long Joins Brandy and Monica on The Boy Is Mine Tour

Muni Long, whose real name is Priscilla Renea Hamilton, is experiencing a dream come true as she joins Brandy and Monica for their highly anticipated The Boy Is Mine Tour. This marks a significant milestone in her career, especially considering how much the duo has influenced her music.

In an exclusive interview, Long reflected on the opportunity to open for two of her biggest inspirations. She shared that if someone had told her as a child that she would be performing before Brandy and Monica, she wouldn’t have believed them. “If you told me [when I was younger] that I would be opening for Brandy and Monica, I would have been like, 'Shut up. You're a liar,'” she said during an event in New York City.

Long’s admiration for Brandy and Monica goes back to her early years. She recalled attending Essence Fest, where the group performed a tribute to the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack. Although she didn’t think she had a place in that world, she knew every word of the album by heart. The soundtrack featured songs from Brandy, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, TLC, and Aretha Franklin, among others.

The tour will also feature Kelly Rowland and 2025 American Idol winner Jamal Roberts as additional opening acts. This lineup promises to bring together a diverse range of talent, showcasing both established and emerging artists.

A Dream Come True for Brandy and Monica

Brandy and Monica have long been celebrated as icons of R&B, with their hit duet “The Boy Is Mine” becoming one of the most iconic songs of the 90s. However, their relationship wasn’t always smooth. The two had a well-documented feud that began after a backstage altercation at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) following the release of their hit single.

Despite this, the pair has found a way to reunite, and Brandy described the tour as “a dream come true.” She mentioned that there has been talk of them touring together since 1998, but it wasn’t until now that the timing felt right. “Monica and I coming together again isn’t just about the music — it’s about honoring where we came from and how far we’ve both come,” she said in a press statement.

Monica echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that the tour is a celebration of their history and the fans who have supported them over the years. “This tour is a celebration of our history, our impact, and the fans who have grown with us. Brandy and I have been on our own unique journeys, and coming back together in this way is a reminder of the power of respect, strength, and real music.”

Muni Long’s Excitement and Connection

For Muni Long, the opportunity to perform alongside Brandy and Monica is more than just a career highlight—it’s a full-circle moment. She has been writing songs for 15 years and feels a deep connection to the R&B legends. “A lot of people don’t know, but I've been writing songs for 15 years, so I know all the girls. We know each other,” she explained.

Long cited some of her favorite Brandy songs, including “When You Touch Me” and “Almost Doesn't Count,” as major influences on her music. She expressed her excitement about the tour and even admitted she’ll be in the audience watching, just like any fan. “I'm gonna be in the audience just like everybody else. I'm gonna get off stage, I'm gonna put my sweats on, and I'm coming back to watch,” she said.

What to Expect from the Tour

The Boy Is Mine Tour will kick off in Cincinnati on October 16 and will make stops in several major cities, including Atlanta, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Brooklyn, Detroit, and New Orleans, before wrapping up in Houston on December 7. Fans can expect a mix of classic hits and new material, as well as performances from the opening acts.

Tickets are already available for purchase, and anticipation for the tour is high. With a lineup that includes Brandy, Monica, Kelly Rowland, Jamal Roberts, and Muni Long, the tour promises to be a celebration of R&B history and the enduring legacy of these iconic artists.
