John Cena Embarks on Peacemaker Cosplay at Comic Con Panel

John Cena, the wrestler-turned-actor, made a striking appearance at a Comic Con panel that featured DCU director James Gunn. Dressed in full Peacemaker regalia, he revealed to the crowd that the costume was a "rental." The event highlighted the upcoming Season 2 of Peacemaker, which is set to premiere on HBO Max on August 21. This marks over three years since the first season of the Suicide Squad spinoff series debuted.

Fans in attendance were treated to an exclusive sneak peek as the trailer for Season 2 was unveiled during the convention. The series follows Chris Smith, also known as Peacemaker, as he recovers from injuries sustained in the 2021 movie Suicide Squad. In Season 2, the anti-hero discovers an inter-dimensional portal to a parallel Earth in his home.

A Unique Costume and Some Humor

During the panel, John Cena joked about the costume, saying, "This is where we're supposed to do this," before admitting, "I had to borrow this again. This one is not mine. This is a rental." He posed for the audience and kept the costume on throughout the event, including the helmet.

Cena also expressed his enthusiasm for connecting with fans, declaring, "There's not enough hot sauce in this city to contain us." His playful demeanor added a lighthearted touch to the panel, which was filled with excitement about the new season.

Peacemaker’s Journey in Season 2

When discussing the second season, John explained that Peacemaker is going through a rough patch in life and believes the grass might be greener on the other side. He noted that this is something people can relate to. Season 2 takes place just one month after the events of 2025's Superman, as part of James Gunn's revamp of the DC Universe.

Gunn emphasized that Season 2 is much more extreme than the first and is not suitable for children. The director received a standing ovation from the audience and panelists, calling the show his "favorite thing in the world." He praised the character's development, noting that it's important for TV shows to evolve, with both growth and regression being part of the journey.

New Elements and Behind-the-Scenes Jokes

The panelists also shared that Season 2 of Peacemaker opens with an elaborate musical number featuring a Dirty Dancing-style lift. John Cena took the opportunity to poke fun at the showrunner, revealing that he "hates" the "You can't see me" jokes, which originated from a catchphrase he used during his WWE career.

"I love them. Nobody is next to James Gunn, it's just a floating helmet!" he joked, holding his helmet next to Gunn, who chuckled. "He's so frustrated," John quipped. Despite the humor, Cena expressed admiration for Gunn, stating that he has no ego despite being one of the most famous people in the world.

A Growing Actor and Exciting Performance

Cena also praised the actor behind the Peacemaker role, saying, "John Cena turns in an amazing performance this season. I couldn't believe what he was capable of and how much he's grown as an actor in two years. It’s really something to see."

The panel concluded with a mix of excitement, humor, and anticipation for what's to come in Season 2 of Peacemaker. Fans are eager to see how the story will unfold and what surprises await in this expanded DC Universe.
