Jax Taylor’s Reflections on a Challenging Season and His Future

Jax Taylor, one of the central figures on The Valley, has had a season filled with emotional turbulence. From his struggles with mental health to the painful reality of being served divorce papers by his ex-partner, Brittany Cartwright, the relationship between the two has been anything but smooth during Season 2. Despite these challenges, Jax remains hopeful that things can improve.

In an exclusive interview backstage at the The Valley reunion taping, Jax opened up about how he felt going into the event after such a difficult year. “I have pretty thick skin, and I'm just gonna go in and hear everybody out and hope everybody hears me out,” he said. “I'm in a very different place in my life now, so my anger is not so much there anymore.”

A Focus on Brittany and Their Son

One of Jax’s main concerns heading into the reunion was Brittany. He expressed a desire to make sure she understood his feelings. “My main concern is just letting her know just how sorry I am we got to this place,” he explained. “I don't know how we got here, but we got here. And basically just letting her know I will always love her and I will always be there for her.”

Jax emphasized that their son, Cruz, plays a significant role in his decisions. “We have a son together, so whatever I can do to be there for her and support her in her next venture, whatever she wants to do with her life, I will be here,” he said. “I will never live far away from her in case she needs me for anything and, of course, I don't want to be away from my son.”

He also took full accountability for the issues they faced. “I've done a lot, and I'm sorry. I hope she can forgive me,” he added.

The Struggles of a Difficult Year

When asked about the highs and lows of the season, Jax was candid about the hardships he faced. “There were probably more lows than there were highs,” he admitted. “I can't tell you how hard this year was for me. It was the hardest year of my life.”

Jax shared some of the personal losses he endured, including the death of his father, whom he described as his best friend. “That was the toughest thing I've ever gone through,” he said. “And then, obviously, this year, I don't know too many people who could go through what I have gone through and still be standing.”

He listed several challenges, including losing friends, being hospitalized twice, and receiving diagnoses of bipolar disorder, PTSD, and OCD. “I couldn't count on two hands all the things that have happened to me this year,” he said. “Not playing the victim at all, but just between losing my family, going to rehab twice, being diagnosed with bipolar, PTSD, OCD, losing my friends, having a f—king alcohol problem — I mean, I could go on and on and on.”

A New Chapter for Jax Taylor

Despite everything, Jax found strength in his son, Cruz. “I have a son, and that's the only reason why I'm still here,” he said. “I do everything for him.”

In July, Jax announced that he would not be returning to The Valley for the next season. “After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley,” he said in a statement. “Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz.”
