Tragic Hiking Incident at Devil's Den State Park

A heartbreaking incident occurred at Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas, where a couple was found dead while hiking with their two young daughters. Local authorities are now seeking public assistance to locate the suspect, who is still at large.

Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, were discovered deceased on a trail within the park. Their children, aged 7 and 9, were unharmed and have been placed with other family members. The tragic event took place on Saturday, July 26, as reported by local law enforcement.

The Arkansas State Police (ASP) received a call around 2:40 p.m. and quickly arrived at the scene in Washington County. The couple was found on a walking trail, and their daughters were not injured. Authorities confirmed that the family had recently relocated to Prairie Grove, Ark., which is approximately 15 miles from the Oklahoma border, from another state.

On Sunday, July 27, ASP released an updated description of the suspect involved in the incident. The individual is described as a White male with a medium build, wearing a long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, dark pants, a dark hat, and sunglasses. He was also seen carrying a black backpack and wearing fingerless gloves. The suspect was observed driving toward a park exit in a black, four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda, with a license plate covered by electrical or duct tape.

Authorities believe the suspect may have traveled along State Highway 170 or State Highway 220 near the park. Investigators are urging anyone who visited the park on Saturday to review their cellphone photos, videos, or GoPro footage for any images of the suspect. Additionally, residents living near the park are asked to contact ASP if they have access to security or game camera footage.

Those with relevant footage are advised not to share it on social media, as it could potentially compromise the investigation. The area where the killings occurred is described as remote and rural, with rugged terrain, thick vegetation, and no cellphone service. As a result, the park has been closed to the public while the investigation continues.

Shea Lewis, the Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism, expressed deep sorrow over the events at Devil's Den State Park. In a statement, Lewis said, "Our hearts are with the victims’ loved ones during this incredibly difficult time." Lewis also emphasized that Park Rangers are fully commissioned law enforcement officers and are actively working to ensure the safety of park guests.
