Buddy Holly Summer Showcase Features Hayley Burton Concert

Summer Showcase Concert Series Continues with Hayley Burton
The Buddy Holly Center’s annual Summer Showcase Concert Series is back for another exciting season, featuring a lineup of talented musicians and performers. This year, the series continues on Thursday, July 31, with a special performance by Hayley Burton.
Hayley Kathleen Burton is a multi-genre vocalist known for her unique and compelling voice, which reflects the influences of her childhood. From a young age, she spent countless hours listening to her favorite vocalists, teaching herself how to sing. Over the past 25 years, her dedication and passion for music have made her a respected and sought-after performer, teacher, and artist.
Burton's career began with performances at live variety shows in Lubbock and ensembles at South Plains College. Her talent quickly caught the attention of local music circles, leading her to become the lead vocalist for the Alan Shinn Orchestra and Jazz Combo for nine years. During this time, she performed as a guest vocalist for the Harry James Orchestra and the Texas Tech University Jazz 1 Ensemble on multiple occasions. She also had the opportunity to open for legendary acts like The Temptations.
Throughout her career, Hayley has shared the stage with some of the most talented musicians in the industry, including Alan Shinn, Sean Frankhouser, Royce Chambers, JT Paz, Brent Wheeler, Robert Henry, Don Turner, Brad Leali, Charles Whitehead, Nic Shute, and John Sprott. Her talent has not gone unnoticed, earning her the nickname “The Golden Voice” from Multi-Grammy Nominated Jazz Vocalist Nnenna Freelon. She was also described as “A treasure in the middle of nowhere” by Award-Winning Jazz Trumpeter Fred Radke.
For Hayley, her greatest accomplishments are the opportunities to create good music with those who have supported her throughout her journey. “I have met many wonderful people, and those I love most are the ones who are right here with me,” she says. “I owe everything I know to my parents, who showed me how to express love through my voice.”
The Summer Showcase Concert Series takes place every Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Meadows Courtyard, running from May 15 to August 14. Guests are welcome to bring outside food, but no outside beverages are allowed after 5:15 p.m. Chairs, picnic blankets, and similar items are not permitted inside the gates.
Admission to all events is free, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition to the concerts, guests are encouraged to explore the Buddy Holly exhibitions and the Fine Arts Gallery during the Summer Showcase hours, both of which offer free admission.
