Christopher Washington Jr. Nears Final Decision in Recruitment Process

Christopher Washington Jr., a four-star senior small forward from Providence Christian Academy in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, has narrowed his college basketball recruitment to just seven schools. The list includes Alabama, Auburn, Cincinnati, Florida A&M, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Villanova. While he hasn’t specified any particular order, these programs are now the primary focus of his decision-making process.

Washington, a native of Gainesville, Florida, began his high school career at The Villages Charter High School. During his sophomore year, he averaged 15.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. His shooting percentage from three-point range was 29.9%, with 35 made shots out of 117 attempts. These stats helped establish him as one of the top prospects in the Class of 2026.

According to 247Sports, Washington is ranked No. 23 overall, No. 10 at the small forward position, and the top-ranked player in Tennessee for the upcoming class. He is expected to take an official visit to Alabama on September 6, which could be a significant step in his recruitment journey.

Prior to cutting down his list, Washington had received interest from several other schools, including California, Clemson, Louisville, Memphis, Michigan, South Florida, and Vanderbilt. However, he has since focused his attention on the final seven.

When asked about his priorities in choosing a college, Washington emphasized the importance of family and immediate playing time. “I want to go somewhere that feels like a family,” he said. “So, I’m going to be looking at that. And I want to play early, so I want to go somewhere I’ll play right away. How they play will be big for me, I like playing fast and playing on the wing. Location won’t matter to me as long as it feels like family there.”

His insights were shared with On3's Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw, who provided additional perspective on Washington’s performance. Following his standout showing at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Orlando last month, Shaw noted that Washington has maintained his status as a top-20 ranked player for On3. “Watching him in this event, it is easy to see why he is thought of with such lofty regard,” Shaw said. Washington, listed at 6-foot-8, is described as a fluid athlete with ball skills and touch. While his game is still developing, he has been working on refining his skill set. During the camp, he averaged 15.2 points and delivered some impressive highlight dunks.

Providence Christian Academy had a successful 2024-2025 season, finishing with a 30-2 record and winning the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association (TSSAA) Division II Class A Championship. They defeated Battle Ground Academy in March, marking the program's first-ever title.
